Thieves have stolen six communication radios used by Olympic Games organisers but police say the state-of-the-art devices pose no security risk.

Chief police spokesman Lefteris Economou says the radios have been stolen from the aquatic centre.

"The site's technical manager reported it and they were immediately deactivated by the state phone company," he said.

The radios, part of the multi-million-dollar communication system, are used by organisers for internal communication.

Even if they are 'de-activated' i'm sure a lot of 'certain people' would be able
to re-activate them at some time in the future.
