In these action movies there is always a stereotypical person who looks deadly or has some deadly skill
and works for the main antagonist or the main 'boss' in the action movie.

This thread is dedicated to these people who appear in movies as henchmen and always have a separate
fight sequence with the protagonist. The fun fact is that these people are more liked than the actual
main villain.

My favorite henchmen include the following:
1.Charles Dance as the British henchman Benedict in Last Action Hero.
2.Lindsey Ginter as the assassin in Mercury Rising.(also appears in x files as the crew cut man).
3.Billy Drago as Frank Nitti in the Untouchables.
4.Michael Ironside as the gun wielding Richter in Total Recall.
5.Richard Roxburgh as Hugh Stamp in Mission Impossible 2.

Surely you can add more to the list. All your replies are welcome.

I bet lots of British Actors will be listed as the American film industry likes to portray the British as back stabbing villains.

Being British some American films are very predictable within 5 minutes of watching them.

However my list of Villains are :-

Hans Gruber in Die Hard (Alan Rickman)
Peter Sarsgaard in Flightplan (very underrated film)
Timothy Olyphant in Hitman
V for Vendetta ( Hugo Weaving also good in matrix series)
Gary Oldman in various films

I agree that Michael Ironside in total recall plays the role well.

One ingredient that I have found is that to have a top performing bad guy in a film I think the actor's background in theatre really helps.
I could be wrong though.

OMG.......we watch so many of these movies.........love 'em! Alan Rickman (in reply to an earlier post) is THE BEST. He totally steals any scene, any film he's in. Could devote an entire thread to him but I'll spare you my obsessions.

Mark Wahlberg: ( in anything violent...he was a pansy in Shaylamin's Happenings) in the Shootist , Four Brothers.
Daniel Craig: Not on my radar for Bond but wow.......He has a deeper more mature edge about him than Jason. Really liked him as Bond. Have seen some other movies he's in....definitley don't want to be in his cross hairs!
Jason Statham: When he's not being stupid in Crank he's pretty good! Love his fight scenes. really liked War. And of course the Tranporter series (well except #3 ok? )

Nothing more attractive than these "Man on a Mission Movies" when the actor can pull it off with bone chilling focused revenge for his victimized Love of His Life.

Brad Dourif as the Gemini Killer in "The Exorcist III" sent back to earth by Satan to rebuild a new body and go back to his work as a serial killer because Satan was just a big fan. It sounds pretty stupid now that I write it out but he sure was entertaining to watch.

The best :F. Murray Abraham.

Remember "Salieri" in Amadeus (1984).

He killed Mozart's music.

How could you guys have a discussion about "film assassins" and not mention an entire movie made about an assassin- "Collateral"? Great, great film- tight direction and excellent acting by everyone involved.....
