Yes we can!

U.S. drone targets two leaders of Somali group allied with al-Qaeda, official says

A U.S. drone aircraft fired on two leaders of a militant Somali organization tied to al-Qaeda, apparently wounding them, a senior U.S. military official familiar with the operation said Wednesday.

The strike last week against senior members of al-Shabab comes amid growing concern within the U.S. government that some leaders of the Islamist group are collaborating more closely with al-Qaeda to strike targets beyond Somalia, the military official said.

The airstrike makes Somalia at least the sixth country where the United States is using drone aircraft to conduct lethal attacks, joining Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq and Yemen. And it comes as the CIA is expected to begin flying armed drones over Yemen in its hunt for al-Qaeda operatives.

Tied with Al-CIAda... right...

Somalia will more than likely just be an occasional drone strike.

For the most part, we have several African nations fighting our battle there.

Of course, we are training these African troops in Djibouti and financing the operation.

I think you are correct... attacking Syria could pull Turkey and Israel into a bigger conflict.

Personally, I don't see the difference in training an army/funding them, and sending our own troops. I mean, I guess it fools everyone to think we're not at war...but just because the soldiers aren't Americans it means we aren't fighting the war?

What is this "terror" business anyways. It seems like they don't even need proof anymore, or anyone's permission. Just say the magic word, "terror", and you can bomb whoever you want. Strange.

Point taken. The only difference is that it is cheaper in both cost and getting our own troops being killed.

This was called 4 years ago-whatever reasons Obama gives for going into Somalia are BS as this is part of the bigger plan that goes back at least 10 years. I'm sure many have seen this video but...

General Wesley Clark interview with Democracy Now from March 2007. In it he discusses the "plan" from a conversation he had at the end of September 2001.

The 7 countries listed and targeted (not in the order listed by Clark)

Iraq- check. Since Mar 19, 2003 and going strong
Libya-check Since Mar 19, 2011 and ramping up
Somalia-check. Drone strikes started June 2011

Syria-moving closer everyday Lindsay Graham calls for Syria intervention
Lebanon-same
Sudan-same former us envoy calls for sudan military action

Finally, Iran- Those war drums have been banging for a while. I'm surprised we're not at war with them already.
