Well I wish him the best. He is good to the majority of his people, and acting in their best interests, and thats why corporate America, and thus, the American media, hates him.

Yeah, I watched his declarations on tv. He lost weight and doesn't look arrogant anymore.

That too, I thought his sorry bum was dead! But he has had some serious health issues over the years.
Thanks for the scoop.

Cancer has a way of humbling people, maybe it's just what he needed.

We should wait to see who is going to take over Venezuela after him now. He might try to put someone to continue the regime, like Castro in Cuba. Does he have family in the militar forces?

I thought he looked a lot thinner and sickly too......

If we knew whether or not it was a fast or slow growing type of cancer,

we could determine his possible prognosis

I hope he will make it.

I never understood why people hated him so much.

Because he is socialist. Some people dont need any other reason. Even if its none of their business what other people in their own countries want to do.

"Its a disease, which will spread if we dont stomp it out" is the claim. Especially when the people in that country are happy with it and the people YOU are raping start noticing they arent being treated as well.

You are the second person I know made a good comment about Chavez in a week, I guess it depends of your political point of view.

The ex-manager (venezuelan) in the place I work told me many times about how bad Chavez is, now I am hearing the opposite. Peru elected Humala as president a few weeks ago, the people against him said they don't want a "Chavez" in Peru.

I dont suppose it ever occurred to you that Venezuelans who had left Venezuela for the US might be more likely to not be happy with him than the HUGE majority that stayed. Much like Cuban Americans often speak very badly of Castro because they were the people who lost out when socialism took hold. Those who were profiting from the capitalist way of doing things.

Im sure when Venezuela went socialist there was a little exodus of the upper class, or those who were hoping to make it into an upper class via the capitalist system. And they are likely very angry that they lost out. But there are always people who lose out in any system, and the only real difference with socialism is that its the rich majority doing the losing out, not the poor majority.

Chavez is a dictator. I imagine there are countless examples that you or anyone else can provide that'll illustrate how brutal dictatorships bring lasting peace and joy and happiness to its people.

He calls himself a ``socialist``, indeed, but his policies wouldn't win him much love from other socialists. He seems like a decent person to me though, he doesn't seem to understand economics well, but at least he isn't running around invading countries and killing people like American presidents.
