Interesting now that the Fed is to implement the QE3, they will not buy anymore debt that means the treasury can not print anymore money for bailouts and the debt ceiling is still unchangeable Geithner is to resign, before he get caught in another blunder with the US economy.

US is surviving on money printing, bailouts and increased debt ceilings, take one and the rest will come down like a domino effect, Washington can not balance their sheets and cut spending, Geithner did was he was put in office to do already, help with the bailouts to the financial institutions he cater too, now is time to exit before his image gets tarnished, I bet he got a nice cozy job on Goldman Sach or JP Morgan waiting for him.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is considering stepping down later this year, but will not make a decision until after negotiations over the U.S. debt ceiling are completed, people familiar with his thinking said on Thursday.

He don't want the public pressure anymore as no one is taking him seriously and the nation as a whole has lost confidence in both him and the Federal Reserve!

Well, he may wait until the debt ceiling debate is resolved but like any other political figure looking ahead of time specially with knowledge of the US economy will step down before the next elections to make sure he is not caught in any economic blunder.

Why does "rat" and "sinking ship" come to mind?

Could this be an indicator that their stewardship of the economy is failing? maybe they might try something like STAYING OUT OF THE WAY, in order to heal the mess they've made.
(and yes, before anyone flames, Bushs' mess as well)

This move could also pave the way for Geithner to be used in an entirely different capacity. I smell a new henchman in Obama's 2012 campaign. The Axlerod, Gibbs, Geithner bunch a.k.a. The 3 Stooges...

Here is the link that I found.
www.huffingtonpost.com...

Here is the quote from the HuffPost dated June 30 2011," Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is said to be considering leaving his position after the budget deal is completed, according to Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, Geithner has not yet finalized his decision, and he says he will not do so until the resolution of the debt ceiling issue.

Geithner is the sole remaining member of the original economic team compiled by President Barack Obama, so his departure would mean not a single member made it through Obama's first term. In early June, Austan Goolsbee resigned his post as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. "

Like most of us here at ATS, I hope he puts action into his words and does more than consider. However, these word come from a lying tax cheat that was allowed to get away from prosecution.

And who's gonna replace him? Another shill for the Keynesian theories, another federal reserve puppet, another Bilderberg puppet, another liar?

You betcha.

The guy shouldn't be resigning, he should be in jail.
