Yeah this will end well... not.

Pakistan says :
Pakistan tells US to leave 'drone' attack base

Pakistan told the United States to leave a remote desert air base reportedly used as a hub for covert CIA drone attacks, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar was quoted by state media as saying Wednesday.

America says :
US rejects demands to vacate Pakistan's drone base

The United States is rejecting demands from Pakistani officials that American personnel abandon a military base used by the CIA to stage drone strikes against suspected militants, US officials told Reuters.

US personnel have not left the remote Pakistani military installation known as Shamsi Air Base and there is no plan for them to do so, said a US official familiar with the matter, who asked for anonymity to discuss sensitive material.

"That base is neither vacated nor being vacated," the official said. The information was confirmed by a second US official.

Regarding the Shamsi base in particular, Pakistani officials have frequently suggested it is being shuttered, comments that may be aimed at quieting domestic opposition to US military operations using Pakistani soil.

Earlier this week, Pakistani defense minister Ahmed Mukhtar told the Financial Times that Pakistan had already stopped US drone operations there.

On Thursday, Mukhtar told Reuters: "When they (US forces) will not operate from there, no drone attacks will be carried out."

He said Islamabad had been pressuring the US to vacate the base even before the May 2 commando raid in which US Navy SEAL commandos killed Osama bin Laden. After the raid, Mukhtar said, "We told them again."

How long before the Pakistani military says ENOUGH IS ENOUGH with the puppet Pakistani government and overthrows it and starts arresting US soldiers in Pakistan and kicking them out forcefully?

This could get real ugly real fast.

The problem from that is Pakistans nuclear weapons. If instability begins to hit, you are not only going to have the US looking at invasion to stablise, but India as well as china. They wont tolerate a unknown entity on their borders who have access to nuclear weapons.

Actually no they dont. Pakistan has a huge death toll from their wars with India. The death toll of insurgents in their tribal areas are combined US AND Pakistani issue.

Simply laying blame at the US doorstep while ignoring other partners doesnt make it solely a US fault.

Hey, who cares if we go to war? We have the economy to sustain it...Right?

And our military isn't stretched thin....Right?

Don't forget that they're just a weak, unpopulated, tribal nation....Right?

/end sarcasm.

When one nation flexes its muscles, the other is going to do the same. Unfortunately, this really can't end well. Unless nothing comes of it, which wouldn't surprise me.

Anyone else notice the pattern,

The US gets into these 'shoving Matches' and 'Antagonizing' other Countries until they have to either 'Defend Themselves' or the 'Civilians'

then they can claim they 'attacked' or.. 'Defending' Under 'Self Defense'

Happy Fourth Of July..

If the Packistan government tells the US that they no longer have permission to operate on their soil. Then who are the US to disagree with their soverignty?

This just makes my blood boil.

It is THEIR country, they are a sovereign nation, the US has NO right, whatsoever to refuse to leave, if they are asked.

How do you think we would feel if China had a base in New York, the US said "leave" and China said "Nope, sorry, we don't respect your rights as a sovereign nation, we will do what we want, even on YOUR land"

Sad thing is, there are probably Americans that don't see a problem with this. They wonder why people around the world hate us, and then think we have the right to have a base in someone's country that wants us to leave.

I would normally agree with that, except for the fact Bin Ladn was within 30 miles of the Capital and living across the street of a military academy. His cell phone has contacts for the Paklista ni Government as well as ISI contacts.

They can complain all they want. They lost their ability to dictate when they decided to hide terrorists, and then materially support them.

It's just a show for the peanut gallery...

Pakistan talks big in public and cooperates in private. They are walking a thin line between being seen as a dangerous failed state vulnerable to extremists (by the modern world) and being seen as selling out to the evil west and thus provoking the extremists (by the darkage world).

Not surpising at all. The US told Pakistan specifically and in these words after 9/11 "Get on board and cooperate with us or we will bomb your country back to the stone-age". Pakistan can say "get out" all they want but it aint happening.

They didn't loose their ability to dictate what happens in their country, because it is THEIR country.

They don't have to cooperate with the US, the only reason they have so far is because the US acts like a schoolyard THUG and threatens anyone that doesn't go along with them.

The status-quo of the US government going around the world doing whatever they want has got to stop. We have no right, and while in the past we may have had the means to impose our will upon other nations, the time is rapidly approaching where we simply won't be able to afford bullying sovereign nations into doing what we want.

People seem to live in this paradigm of the US always being right, and the US having the authority given to them by god to command other nations as if they were states in the union. It's stupid, it's bad for the American citizens, and only plants seeds of American hate around the world.
