MSNBC ‘Indefinitely’ Suspends Analyst Halperin for Calling Obama a ‘D*ck’

This morning on Morning Joe Mark Halperin, under the impression Morning Joe was on a 7 second delay, said he thought President Obama was a ‘d*ck’ in his press conference yesterday.

He quickly apologized once it became clear the remark had aired, [as] did the entire Morning Joe crew.

Apparently that was not enough. MSNBC has since suspended Halperin.

Well the First Amendment ...
Yah, but to openly state that kind of opinion over the airwaves about the President, whether you like him or not is not acceptable.

The first amendment takes the backseat when it may hurt some feelings and certainly if it is indeed the truth.

Why not? Obama is just another man, but in a position of high power. It was a bad judgement call on halperins part. Yet, he didn't intend for it to be aired. "accident"

The first amendment only applies to the federal government not having the authority or power to make a law restricting a person's speech or expression. It does not apply to a private company. A private company can restrict any type of speech they want to, just like what ATS does with their terms of use rules. Having said that, just because one is President doesn't make them above criticism, of any kind or in any forum. MSNBC is the President's lap dog, so naturally he had to be suspended so that the Progressive masters of the MSM wouldn't come down hard on them, probably by restricting their access at media events involving the President. I think what he said was wrong, because what he said was far too kind.

People had it easy during Watergate... they could call Richard Nixon that and get away with it.

However, in this case, I have to agree with the decision. Not because he shouldn't have been able to speak his mind, but because there are better (non-vulgar) ways of doing so, especially on TV. That's beyond the realm of Freedom of Speech (though, there are people who don't think it should be).

It wasn't on accident. He specifically said that he hoped the 7 second delay was being used before he said it because he knew that it would be on TV.
