Women are being trained to become 'bombs and killing machines'

The Libyan government has unveiled its latest weapon to defend Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's regime from rebel fighters - women.
As the NATO bombing campaign in the country entered its 100th day on Monday, loyalists to Gaddafi paraded their new female fighters in front of the world's media.

Don't get me wrong... I know how very strong and tough the ladies can be... but give me a break... using grandma's to fight your battles.....???

My grandma was one tough old cookie and I would have been happy to have her with me in a firefight... that lady could shoot.... and god help anyone who threatened her family... but...

Arming grandmother with grenade launchers and other assorted medium to heavy weapons is bordering on desperate...

Not buying too deep into this story at all.
All I see here is it's government training it's people to defend against themselves (of course people standing with Gaddafi it seems).
All that about NATO, front line soldier, and bomb machines is propaganda crap.

It looks more like the women are being trained to defend themselves if and when their men are not around to protect them.......and most of the women in the photos are not old grannies!!!!!!

So whats wrong with that? you got a problem with female soldiers maybe you haven't noticed that on the east libyan terrorist rebels side they have no female soldiers, only the males are soldiers.


I am sure by now you may noticed that.

In the american army one third of the women claim to have been raped by their own compatriots.

I guess gahdaffi figured the safest way to defend his country from the illegal invasion of his country by the oilthieves was to put the ugly gals up front...just in case...

I am an arab and for ever I have argued that the arabs dont know how to fight a war. Maybe they did 1400 years ago, but ever since the fall of the ottoman empire the arabs have turned into one of the worst kind of people, and i'm not wrong because their actions alone vouch for what I have just claimed.

the front lines depend on the home front, those women should be supporting the war effort by working in hospitals and making food not fighting. its a waste of life and weapons and is immoral. did i also mention that it demoralise the army while at the same time boosts the opposition to know that old women are fighting.

this means that hes losing and resorting to the lowest means to counter attack.

A women should only fight if there are no men left and their lives or their childrens are threatened and there is no other way out. As for this, it is beyond stupid.

I guest what you are saying is that it defeats its own purpose. I would have to agree with you on that. It is like taking one step forward and two steps back.

So women shouldn't be allowed to fight?

I'm sure these women showed up for the training on their own accord, not because they have a gun to their head. They want to defend their country and that's their perogative.

On top of this, women can be extremely capable and specialized combatants. If I was a commander, I would definitely have female special ops on hand at all times (not grannies though).

I mean, how ironic would it be when you think women should stay in their homes and make babies and then a female soldier mows you down. I bet that would change your conception of modern warfare, wouldn't it?

EDIT: As for the article itself, I think what happened is that some Western reporter got their hands on photos of some Libyan military rally, tasked with finding some way to spin the situation to a Western advantage, and then said "ahah! there's women holding guns, old ones at that. They don't do that on our side of the world, so this must be the evil work of Gadaffi!" ... or something like that

Got real proof for that specific claim?

And suicide bombing is the same thing as arming old women: it's obviously not your primary objective, but when you're losing manpower and resources then you have to resort to more desperate measures. I can guarentee that Americans would be blowing themselves up if they were invaded and being systematically wiped out by foreign bombers and assassination squads too. It's the human thing to do, whether you like it or not, and in the end its much more brave than just killing yourself, living on your knees or dying while running away.

The Libyan rebels are not soldiers.....they are just barbaric murdering scumbags!
