This is a pretty rare find, especially for Florida. One can only imagine how large these things can get in the wild considering we've only seen a few living and recently alive specimens. Humans would be no match for them in the water.

I was looking for an impressive specimen. This was not it.
It is nevertheless an interesting find, and a good post.

Nice find! Fishing the oil rigs for snapper and lemonfish off Biloxi I have seen my share of weird specimens, even seen a giant squid, at least I thought it was a giant for the Gulf until I saw this.

I had no idea they were that big in the region, the one I caught, well snagged while reeling up from the 80 foot depth was around 6 foot. This is pretty impressive to me for the southern waters.

They are being radioactivly grown with oil enhancments for your pleasure-give it time for the cycle to repeat. Now HYDRAS
remind me of some changed sea horse

Also I think they are following the food THAT THEY CAN EAT SMH...

It probably looks a hell of a lot bigger when you see it in person, am I right?
I have never seen a giant squid but have always been fascinated with them since I was 7 years old. 25 years later I still enjoy the thought of them.
I have however always wanted to see one of the renown type. The mythical 60+ footer. That would make my life a little richer.

You have to click back in the video selection since it updates that website with news. The story is probably back a few clips.

....Ok people lol

Its called a Giant Squid because thats the particular kind of squid it is.........

Not because this one is particularly Huge.....this was a young Giant Squid.....

Come on lets think critically........utilize that ghetto between your ears

They didn't say a young giant squid, they said giant squid and left the concept open to interpretation. Consequently as humans we tend to take things at face value when no other alternative is given.. I think most people realize giant squid refers to a type of squid not just a big ol squid.
Come on now, think critically....

Thanks for posting this.

Seems these are strange times around the coasts of Florida.
A possible Great White was spotted today.
www.wftv.com...
Florida's water is supposed to be way too warm for these fierce fish!
edit on 29-6-2011 by Afterthought because: Whoops! I meant warm, not cold.
