That's an interesting way of looking at it, never thought of it that way before. The internet certainly overcomes language barriers and allows for communication.

I understand VPN's

The point i am making is that they (company, incorp etc) are not under the same 'public' censorship laws compared to consumer or 'public' internet domains, VPN's are protected and private for many different reasons.

This one indeed. We must fight this. Techies unite, I guess. Prevail against the control of information.

My full support to all efforts to take this unto Our collective bosom.

Seriously, guys? Your internet has been censored and controlled probably since it's creation. The Bush administration actually launched a full scale war on your rights when it comes to the lovely world wide web.

This is nothing new and honestly, I doubt it'll get any worse. What you have now, is probably what you'll get for many many many more years. Quit worrying, no one's going to take away your liberties of looking at p0rn unless Palin, Bachmann, Romney, or any other right wing nutjob gets into office.

If they truly begin to censor/shut down the web it will be a disaster, and a step backwards for humanity as a whole. I can't even imagine that being the case because I've been using the internet almost every single day for 10 years and it's been like a library of knowledge for me, a bastion for free speech and the exchange of invaluable information; not to mention a primary source of entertainment. A handful makes the rules for every other person alive, and the rest just bear with the disruption. A handful that has no morals, yet imposes morals on the front-line as a facade, a smack in the face of logic and liberty. The sad part is that it's getting to the point where the law made by the elites will be inescapable. They'll extend their reach to any and every advancing culture with the means to reverse civilization to the dark ages; and what can the average person do? The corruption has seeped so deep it's become essentially hopeless....but I still have some iota of hope anyway. . .

Doesn't really matter. We have ways around it.

The powers that be have wanted this for years ... they are going to use false flag events such as the swarms of teens that shop lift in larger centers (Philly, Chicago) and other similar event to show how this censorship is need for out safety.

The genie is out of the bottle and there a number of lawful disobediences that collectively can disenable the easy running of our countries. I found a U Tube on a BBC political programme that was shut down.

I don't object to child porn sites being removed I am in full agreement with this.

What I do wonder and no offence intended, but could we have people placed here who deliberately nurture the idea that we are powerless and should just accept it. Its a useful tool suggestion and if TPTB can seel it to us we won't fight it. However I think that most of us are not in the mood to be put upon any further. Too much has happened and most of it is not acceptable.

Hey dont panic anyone, when they shut the net tech heads will put it back on simple. Now the real shame is no one would even care after about a week of them putting out there propoganda via TV, papers and radio national and local.

The Tv and radio should be ours I say we do what egypt done lets take back tv, radio and papers start our own local paper or radio show.

Tv equipment in almost every sports arena weekly we take loan of what they dont need and build our own pirate networks. How good would it be to hear the truth for a change.

Ive been trying on youtube to remake music vids with + messages and asking people to watch the channels im subbed to im new to it and it seems there are thousands more doing this, kinda thought ats members might have come together to make a few channels with links and vids. This would be the best channel on youtube in no time if the best of ats visit or post vids and links to all the daily news, science, polotics............ would be great then people who are not in the know could inform themselfs

heres my channel visit channels ive subbed some are pretty good

Could they be more specific? What exactly are they going to censor?

There isn't anything on the web that you don't see on TV!It just seems they are more worried about people spreading the truth! That is the only reason that makes sense!

What they don't realize is that it could be a huge blow to the economy, depending on what their idea of censorship includes.

If it has to do with the swearing and sex and violence that's on the net then what's wrong with censoring it so that it makes the net more appropriate for our kids, and just in general! The net is a filthy disgusting thing to be a part of if you think about it,and our kids mimic what they see and hear these days. It's the only responsible thing to do.But if they just want to censor what people say about the government then tell me that's not the move of guilty people!

Can we make our own web?Are we "allowed" to?

Or will we not have rights to mass communicate? It just seems like they are afraid of people finding out things.

vpn tor and proxy the thing is if every nation is censoring the interweb it will be pointless to use them , since our beloved french president tried to make a E-g8 or something alike you can bet that they will make sure they are sharing their filtered list of website. Unfortunately we have to fight for our right.
Even with all this filtering i dont think the computers sales will drop , they are cheaper and cheaper and since the majority of people are dumber well censor is not a problem , they will never reach the content that will be censored anyway.
What happen in the middle east right now is clearly a false flag , another sucessfull experiment , either they censor the net because of this false flag either they will do it to not protect themselve and not be vulnerable to it.

yes we can and it shouldnt matter about the law. If needs must we take full control. Did you hear about what happened in egypt they got the net back Thanks to Hacktavists, they took Tv van and brodcast there own tv/news.

the CIA has been messing with communications print, visual and audio since they began and someone would have before them.

remember the power of words we can put our message on telegraph poles all over town with our views if we dont have the ability to re connet to the net.

I still have a whole box full of telephone modems and we all still have the software to run them.
So we go back to the old ASCII Bulletin Board System, so what? A lot of us old codgers can still do it and it would give us a chance to teach these youngsters how to do something for a change. Even if it is low tech. Besides, (don't laugh too hard) I haven't played Legend of the Red Dragon in AGES....... Point is.. we'll find a way around it.

But couldn't the phone companies just filter out or jam your singal? I have asked this before but no one answered. You are still using the phone companies wiring and what it to stop them from just putting filters or blocks of some kind at the center switching stations to filter or block the data transfer. Or when it detects the modem singal from just dropping the call? I do not know as much about this as I would like to and that is why I am asking. It seems that any thing that uses the phone companies wiring can be stopped if they want to.

I'm not sure how to do an official reply so I'm just gonna type it out...

Crap, I guess I hadn't thought it all out yet. To be honest I don't think we have to worry much. For every silencer of speech today both internet nd otherwise there seems to be five times as many more who stand up to them or take legal action to thwart their efforts. But I guess if we did go back to the old BBS way we'd hafta find a way around the phone company filters too.

Hey here's an Idea. March out into the streets. Protest in the millions not the thousands. You think they are gonna stop with the internet. They pretty much already have taken most of our other freedoms. We no longer, control our speach, our money, our property, our rights and the constitution. What's it gonna take people. What's it gonna take!!
