The US military spends about $20 billion (£12.5 billion) a year just to air-condition its bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, a retired senior officer has claimed.

Should we recount the costs of the war?

If only 12 billion is used per year on air cons, how much is the total per year?

Give a little peace (?) of that money to this guy, he looks like he needs it, really badly

NPR says that is more than the budget for NASA. And as Mother Jones points out, it is more than double the budget for the National School Lunch Program.

NPR complaining about government spending?

You can't be serious?

As soon as they are defunded, they might have more credibility.

And I thought my electric bill was bad.

Seriously, yes the wars are an obvious problem. Financially, morally, and every other adverb. It's gotten to the point where if the US isn't at war that there's something amiss.
-How glaringly effed up is that?

Are you serious? My husband served in Afghanistan and the AC in his 1/2 railroad car room was the only comfort he had. It got a blistering 115 degrees over there. Say what you want but if the bum in your picture wants AC I hear they need soldiers to fight wars. ARGHHHHHHHHhhhh
