"Unfortunately, the irony here is that religious fanatics who believe in the magic power of scriptures are the ones who cause the majority of problems in the world. Because their beloved scriptures dictate the way they live their lives we have waged wars across the centuries.
Religion may well turn out to be involved in the next Great War, however it will be in the capacity of a self fulfilling prophecy because people are foolish enough to believe them."

This just cracks me up! Notably, "Magic Power of Scriptures", the use of the term,” their beloved scriptures" and "Religion may well turn out to be involved in the next great war". Profound! Ok, no to be too insulting here but come on! Let’s dissect…
- "Magic is as magic does" there, Evolution Boy! What's more likely? A. An Omnipotent Being capable of generating a reality in which our small minds are incapable of understanding, therefore making FAITH, the perfect mechanism to support true WILL and a show of thanks and APPRECIATION? Or, B. We, our complex, calculating minds just went from "Ughg, fire!" to "Alas, I am! I process and grow my mind to include knowledge of life and love and the abundance therein! ""Why? What are we to become?"" Can a greater good serve me if I serve it faithfully" in a few short millennia? That's about as likely as a Mac Book being the end result of throwing some silica, plastic, copper, and steel into a blender for 4 million years. Your use of “magic” also describes the world of quantum physics amongst a hundred other scientific unknowns.
- “Their” beloved scriptures huh? So, THEY as in billions of intelligent beings flinging through an impossible, empty space at 66,000 miles per hour. Spinning on a perfectly habitable rock at 1037 mph, I’d say “Their” is “WE”, buddy. Like it or lump it, anything we come in contact with on this unlikely sphere, including “Magical”, sensible instructions on how to treat one another during our time here are OURS. The great news is that you get to use them too! It’s not “theirs”, it’s yours as well.
- Religion is often misused in these discussions. There is a huge difference between those of faith in God and in a grand scheme…And those of small, clinging, hateful, confused idiots that give “religion” a bad name by wanting and needing to belong to a group, any group, that will love them or give them an ounce of attention. These people are scared and unimaginative and they arm themselves with verses and pretend to be armed with the spirit of God. So, folks like you and the other Hater Posters here constantly struggle with your own, small, hate filled agenda to squash the freaks and “magic” believers because somewhere, one of them left an impression on you. That’s too bad. You should really never put any kind of wall up to truth, scientific or otherwise. And yes, the next Great War will be under the guise of “Religion”. But, really? You haven’t figured out that religion is a synonym for “The ego and broken direction of Mankind”? It is too bad that these things are done in the name of God, but ALL wars are actually over land and resources, period. Arguments are genuinely over religion, not huge wars. Your small, control-group experience and timeless, repeated clichés have you confused.

But just so you know, true faith and a search for the ultimate answer have nothing to do with killing or dying for it. It has everything to do with not ever having the answer in THIS MOMENT. It’s ok, don’t be scared. Ask for direction in the dark of your room. And now I’m telling you to…sorry. That’s what used to kill me too. I’m just suggesting to anyone reading this that if you’ve ever had a moment of doubt, just ask for the answer. Try, for once, to be humble. You won’t get it in a text or an IM or see it on TV. It’s subtle, but it’s there.

We imitate a created reality by creating virtual reality. It’s only going to get clearer.

28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

That makes sense , and Isreal has reported being "surrounded " by Syria and Lebanon

Things are heating up

But the bible was 99% most likely written by the Annunaki's

That's why in another quote you quoted , they say that the flesh of the people will burn (the ones who opposed Isreal)

Fine, I'll address the OP.

The 'prophecies' of the bible are just like that of Nostradamus and other so-called 'prophets'. They are written in such an ambiguous way as that they could fit any number of scenarios - and that is what hooks people into believing them.

The OP is like most Xtians, mind made up with 100% smug self-righteous certainty. No new info need apply- whether it can be proved or disproved. No humility or even curiosity to deal with inconsistencies- just ignore them. Pivotal in prophecy:

Who does Revelations refer to when it condemns "the synagogue of satan" ? I've never seen a single one of them address this.

Rev 2:9 "I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a Synagogue of Satan."
Rev 3:9 "I will make those who are of the Synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you."

OP needs to read up on the Khazars who are present day mostly ATHEISTIC zionists- the direct spiritual descendents of the Biblical Pharisees. Still are. The Khazars were from the area called Magog (referred to themselves as such). It was not the Russians or the Muslims.
Read Schlomo Sand or "The Thirteenth Tribe" by jewish scholar Arthur Koestler who was assassinated for his documentation. It is the key to why the OP is among those prophesied "even the Elect shall be deceived". And they have been. Revelations itself warns that "any who add or the Book of Revelation" will reap the wrath of God in plagues. Look at America. She has supported these Khazar fakes like no other country, yet since 1948, she has steadily deteriorated. If the khazars had not been the fake jews, that should have made America richly blessed, yet since Rothschild State began, US fortunes have rotted- morally, financially and spiritually. "By their fruits you shall know them". What are the fruits of the khazar fakes? Every abomination a Xtian claims to hate have been sponsored by THEM- not Muslims: Abortion, Pornography, Promiscuity/Homosecuality, Usuary and rampant economic fraud and destruction, perverted Hollywood, endless wars in the M.E., drug and sex trafficking, failing education system.... Rather than apply ALL scripture and test theories accroding to ALL God's word- cherry picking abounds. Discernment is needed.
PS: I too was raised with these Israel=God's Chosen doctrine. But The Word itself refutes this.

I'm not smug in any way. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know NEARLY enough about the Bible. I don't talk about the "Synagogue of Satan" because I can't say for sure to whom John was referring. One thing I'm pretty sure about though, is that NO Christian denomination is 100% right; the Bible was put together by people with an agenda, and some of the early works are completely ignored - there could be some truth in there somewhere, but the early church fathers decided to hide it.

That is why I'm glad that the ONLY requirement for salvation is the acceptance of Christ as my Lord and Savior. Everything else is just window dressing to be resolved in Heaven.

You're completely wrong about the Jews too. God made an EVERLASTING covenant with Abraham and his descendants through Issac. To dismiss that as a fact only shows your agenda, which is obvious by your use of the slanderous "xtians."

You need to brush up on your debunking skills dude: you're failing miserably.

It is always interesting to me that the atheist ones on ATS who slander Christians as religiously violent and dangerous and even stupid for believing in God and the Bible, are of the belief structure that when harnessed in atheist State power, have murdered, imprisoned, impoverished and oppressed more people than Christians in all their history. They slaughtered over two hundred million people in the Soviet Union alone. A brutal atheist State is currently starving people to death in North Korea. These intolerant liars imprison and oppress anyone who does not deny the existence of God and perform their collective group think when they have the power to do so. Hearing or seeing a Christian creates a gutteral response of a snake in the presense of a mouse. It is irrational and inhuman. That they ride high horses of self righteousness pointing the bloody fingers of their recent history at Christians, without even a doubt in their sense of superiority, is the rant of collective insanity.

From reading the responses, it is not fair to blame all the piss and vinegar on atheists as there are also New Agers/occultists, and Muslims involved in this crazy dance of ignorance's closed minds and hate on ATS. That any Muslim would have the nerve to play hater and victim of Christians while Egyptian Muslims are on a rampage slaughtering, raping and terrorizing Christians would make any human with a soul and a developed conscience tremble for the sake of their own hipcroacy. And the pagan occultists can ponder their glorious history of human sacrifice and the attempted genocide of Christians in Europe. There are no innocent and pure creatures here pure enough to be throwing stones at Christians and denouncing Jesus and God of the Bible. They all have histories, illusions and problems of their own to ponder and handle before they go after anyone else. That would be - if they had any character and self respect.

Finally I want to say, thanks for the review of current reality in light of prophecy. You are right and created a great presentation of the situtation as it is unfolding in our time.

No kidding, right? Sometimes I think my faith - and the faith of others - just gets into their skin and bugs them until they are frothing at the mouth with rage. I wonder how many smashed monitors and keyboards I've been responsible for over the years? Gee, I hope I don't get a bill.

I mean, that guy must have had little faith to begin with, and God put that fossil there to test him. And lo and behold. He and many others bought into the lie, and lost faith in their Lord, the Creator.

So basically god himself sets us up for the fall and then condemns us? What a fun guy.

So we're supposed to have faith in a douchebag who 'tests' us and tricks us at every turn? And what exactly is the reward for this faith when none of us are apparently his 'chosen ones'?

When people have blind faith in something they'll make up an infinite number of excuses to defend their faith even though it makes absolutely no logical sense. I mean seriously, even if god did exist how do YOU know what he was thinking about? You've just basically put 2 and 2 together and ended up with 0.

I'd much rather have faith in my socks. At least they keep me warm at night.

God doesn't "set us up for a fall" at all. He has given us free will to make our own choices; sometimes those choices are bad ones and we pay the price, just like any disobedient child.

And the reward for faithful service is an eternity in Paradise, because we are ALL chosen; it's just that God has decided to work His will through the nation of Israel. After all, He had to pick someone now didn't he?

Op everyday is doomsday on ATS. If its not religion its big business if its not big business its Aliens or demons. I appreciate that it took a lot of time to write the thread but religion itself has more holes in it than swiss cheese. If we are to accept that your right and everyone else is wrong then we must accept the fact that we are nothing but pawns set up on a board for the amusement of others.

IMHO religion is nothing but a way to control the populace and if there were any truths to it in religious scripture then those in charge would have removed it by now and replaced it with something a little bit more controlling like they have done over the years with mayan scripts and of course the bible.

To add if the prophecies are indeed true then why not change the outcome? I mean if I was in charge of a species and I could see future events that were detrimental to the survival of the species I would certainly do something about it. Unless of course I was just as a bad as the species themselves. Which would make the all seeing eye not so pleasant after all. In fact we could almost get away with calling these higher powers 'false gods'

edit on 29-6-2011 by franspeakfree because: (no reason given)

The Gog/Magog war is not doomsday, it's just a war.

I agree that "religion" is full of holes; because it is instituted by men. FAITH on the other hand, is a completely different thing. I have a personal relationship with Christ that transcends religion and denominations. I'm FAR from perfect, in fact I'm a terrible sinner; but when I screw up I can come to Christ in prayer and be forgiven - and try not to screw up again.

Humans are by their nature imperfect creatures, spiritual children who make mistakes during their journey to spiritual adulthood. I don't think God is playing games with us for His amusement any more than I am amused when I need to punish my children for disobeying my rules. I don't like to punish them, but if I don't they will never learn right from wrong, which is - in my opinion - the purpose in life: to prepare us for an eternity with our Father in Heaven.

Imagine a conversation between a child and an adult:

Child: "Did you know I can see into the future?"
Adult: "You can? How can you do that?"
Child: "Using magic."
Adult: "But magic isn't real."

This is the same thing that happens in my head whenever anyone quotes the bible.
In your original post you have told us that "magic is real" by quoting several prophets. Now unless I'm mistaken, seeing into the future (read as: Prophets/prophecy) would be classified as magic. We can all agree that magic (synonymous with miracles, mind you) is just not real. It's pretend. Fiction. Something used to amuse children.

You go to painstaking lengths to prove that magic is real by interpreting current events to match up with something that happened two-thousand years ago. This is just ridiculous. It has been TWO. THOUSAND. YEARS.

Many things have happened since the events of the bible, and if you look back you will find enough events to coincide with EVERY EVENT in the bible.

The challenge is this OP: once you can prove that magic is real you will have proved the Bible to be a factual documentation of our past, present and future. I truly wish you luck. You're going to need it.

Edit to Add: You must consider that anytime someone isn't using magic to make a prophecy, they are lying or down right guessing and their word is useless.

I've said many times that I believe in science, including evolution and a 4.5 billion-year-old Earth. I can not deny something that I can replicate in a laboratory myself. So I look at your analogy as flawed because I see it from a different perspective: It's not "magic" any more than the firearms were to indigenous people of the Americas when they first encountered Europeans; IT IS SCIENCE we don't yet understand.

God exists outside of what we perceive as linear "space-time." Since he does exist outside of space-time, He can see what has happened, and what will happen in the future. At times, He has shared this knowledge with select human beings for reasons I cannot begin to fathom: we call this prophecy.

Can I prove this? No, I can't. That's why it is called "faith." Some people do accept their religion uncritically, but I can't. Even though I was raised in a Christian home and went to a Christian school, it took more than 40 years of study for me to accept the living God as a fact of life. It hasn't been an easy journey, but it has definitely been worth the trip; because now I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God is real.

I just wish I could download that journey into your brain so you could know what I've experienced and what I've learned. It would take another lifetime to share it here on ATS.

Maybe this link will help you on your journey: www.godandscience.org...

*ETA: I took the kids fishing, again, yesterday from early morning until 5 THIS morning: I'm all fished out. The wifey has just asked me to take her to the store to look at carpet, but when I get back I should be able to make a hefty dent in the responses. BRB.

Just looked at the list again - they match the Arab spring countries.

However, things are kicking off in a whole host of other countries - Greece - topping the list.
Yet it is not mentioned anywhere in the prophecy and would have been known at the time.

Appreciate this is not the place but it seems to me if you put the combine the unrest from the Arab Spring and then from the collapsing economy from various countries we are in for a very big bang

Totally agree with OP on the difference between faith and religion. When you get into that mess you'll see hypocrites and liars and that turns you off from the whole thing. Really take a step back and look at yourself and what you believe. Growing up as a kid you hear it all, the easter bunny, santa clause, tooth fairy, Jesus, and it makes you grow up and learn that almost all of it isn't true (or you believe everything wasn't true). Men are the ones that do this to themselves.

Having children myself, 4 of them in fact, with one being a daughter, I came back to the faith and realized why (at least I believe I understand why, I'm new to the faith this time around) I realized why we are being punished, and that I did need a savior, and the one that fits the best criteria (the one being attacked by MSM, hollywood, music industry, and many more) and spoke truth and I agree with his teachings of living was Jesus Christ.

I punish my children, and I hate it. But I know its me or this world. They can be spanked now or be in jail in 5 years for doing something stupid (like children do). My kids love me more everyday. God is doing the same thing to us. It's up to us to say we're sorry we won't do it again. But as children we learned that sorry doesn't fix things. Jesus does fix things, for everyone who comes to him.

As far as fossils, I'd refer to the book of Job. He was stricken with disease, famine, poverty, lost his children and livestock, and still did not swear at the Lord. A guy finds a fossil and all bets are off on God?

Answer the knocking at the door..

Christ did not tell his posse that he had returned. However, He did tell them that he was going away to prepare a place for them, and would come back for them.

And mark my words, EVERY prophecy has and will come to pass; for this is the way that man will know the eternal purpose of GOD.........You just have to look and see it for yourself.

Gog of Magog could represent the United States of America.

After doing some research on Isaac Newton I found out he had in interest in the legend of Atlantis. The island myth of Ogygia drew his attention. The fable says one of the daughters of Atlas lived on the island and her name was Calypso. Odysseus mentions the island in his travels. Both Strabo and Plutarch describe its location in the mid Atlantic.

After reading Plutarch's account of Ogygia is sounds exactly like Plato's Critias of Atlantis.

First I will tell you the author of the piece, if there is no objection, who begins after Homer’s fashion with, an isle Ogygian lies far out at sea, distant five days’ sail from Britain, going westwards, and three others equally distant from it, and from each other, are more opposite to the summer visits of the sun; in one of which the barbarians fable that Cronus is imprisoned by Zeus, whilst his son lies by his side, as though keeping guard over those islands and the sea, which they call ‘the Sea of Cronus. The great continent by which the great sea is surrounded on all sides, they say, lies less distant from the others, but about five thousand stadia from Ogygia, for one sailing in a rowing-galley; for the sea is difficult of passage and muddy through the great number of currents, and these currents issue out of the great land, and shoals are formed by them, and the sea becomes clogged and full of earth, by which it has the appearance of being solid.
en.wikipedia.org...

The name Ogygia could have been in use around Ezekiel's time. Instead of the prophecy saying, "That America in the far west will do battle" it just says "Gog of Magog [the one you know that's in the west called Ogygia] will do battle."

I found it interesting that Calypso had two children from Odysseus named Nausithous and Nausinous. I wonder if the capital city of the Bahamas is named after them?

Nassau, Bahamas of the Caribbean Ocean

The meaning of name Calypso could have some real significance to this prophecy.

The etymology of Calypso's name is from καλύπτω (kalyptō), meaning "to cover", "to conceal", "to hide". It is the opposite of apocalypse, meaning to reveal, which suggests that Calypso may have originally been a death goddess.
