Woman's leg broken, others hurt in flash mob attack

Looks to me like they could just give two flyin' craps about whether they get caught or not. Thing is...these kids know that there is nothing that the stores are going to do about them walking out the door a few pockets and bags heavier than when they came in.

This is not "flash mobs"....this is outright robbery...using mob mentality. They get together, plan it out...every detail...welcome to the old fashioned Train Robbery. I'm sure that eventually they will begin competing as to who is better than the next guy...such things have been around for hundreds of years and are becoming noticeable again due to socialistic and governmental pressures.

Don't ya just luv what a political correct society can become??

just blame the white man to all you blacks and Muslims since they liberal press is on your side because its never a hate crime when blacks kill and rape white women !

Well, there will be a simple test to your thesis that it is the lack of jobs that is causing this problem. In a few weeks school starts. Since all of these kids will be at home working on school work, they won't have the time to engage in flash mobs. Certainly they will be diligent on doing their homework since because they are poor they will need to get scholarships and god forbid they bring home poor grades and show their fathers their report cards. Then they'll really get jammed up.

Problem solved

Some of the problem of this (and other) incidents is that in a mob, things happen so quickly. Many kids are beating, kicking, stealing, etc. The victims cannot positively identify the specific perpetrators and so the group might still be there when the police come, but they cannot arrest the kids because it's not illegal to stand around on the street. In this case (see the update interview link below), the kids were all black, but so were the girls who warned the victims and the girls who pulled over in their car to protect the victims. The victims were of mixed origins and sexes.

What's going to start happening is people will begin carrying their guns and we are going to have a mass shoot-out in the middle of the street. I honestly am not sure how that will play out when you have a white guy shooting half-dozen unarmed black 14-year-olds.

It's fine and dandy to say that they were kids angry because they couldn't find jobs, but these were, according to the article, young teens 13-16 - most not of an age to be working yet. These were kids running wild, taking risks because it was fun. Where are the parents -- who in their right mind lets their 13-year-old walk around Philly? That's when the police should have rounded up the entire bunch of them and charged them with loitering and creating a public disturbance. Make their parents come down and pick up the kids. Make them watch a couple hours of videos on the subject of mobs and the repercussions and make the parents sign a statement that they are aware if the child is picked up again in such circumstances, there will be a $500 fine. A third offense, juvenile work house. Philly has a curfew, but midnight on weekends??? Like that's going to do much good.

I am certain that 90% of these flash mob participants were black.

They threat of being branded a racist should not take away common sense.

Downtown Philly? Come on.

I also deduct that everyone of them had cell phones, because it would be against their Civil Rights to disrupt their drug deals.

Maybe I'm over confident but seeing a large group of teens running towards me with violence in mind would almost be too good to be true...

i would eventually get my ass beat but a good number of these kids would be in a hospital after Id be done w/ them. I don't fight often but when I get to that adrenaline fight or flight mode its sort of disturbing...I become a complete animal literally smashing heads into concrete and biting and ripping neck tissue...gauging the adams apple....

An opportunity to wreak total complete havoc on kids a lot smaller than me is not something I would be proud of but in this case would make me feel dignified.

Not to mention the teens these days are not that threatening...they come across threatening but if you punch them in the face they are so applauded that aggression ceases. None of these kids even had a tooth knocked out...

The power oft these groups is in numbers....take out a few of the numbers and buy a box of tampons for the rest of them...

Eventually I'm going to run into the wrong person...i highly doubt the wrong person is in a flash mob though..

EDIT: Just saw the news report that the kids are about 16-11 with a 19yr old "leader"

Maybe im insane but i just dont see how you let that age group beat you up...If an 11 yr old hit me in the back of the head that arm would be snapped...I think i need to round up my rowdy drunken group of friends and start a "Crash-Mob" flash mob crashing their party...

I'm just waiting for someone to shoot one of these wastes of skin so the black "leadership" can come out of hidin g and scream racism. What a pathetic statement that will be. Where are the professional victims by the way, you know, Al, Jessie, Obama, Wright? I'm telling ya they're just waiting, for a killing so they can profit yet again. My black friends who are more than willing to stomp out other black kids are annoyed not at the fact of black vs white agenda, but that these CHILDREN think they run the streets...they dont, at all. Eventually they run itno the wrong crowd, some other black older group who is actually holding and shots will be fired...not because they even tried to start with the group but because they think they are tougher than anyone else...

I dont want ATS to think there is a white vs black war going on, its just groups of over confident youth...who HAPPEN to be black...

I dont think they are even specifically targeting whites, it seems as thought they are just targeting weaker individuals, people who look like library geeks with glasses who they KNOW wont fight back...

In fact reading the report, the WHOLE group who got attacked had that stereotypical flop flop and glasses yuppy look...of course these people wont fight back because they have never thrown a punch in their life...the guy said he was running, had a youth catch up to him and punch him and knock him down... HOW? How big of a vagina are you that a TEEN running behind you was able to catch UP to you and hit you running, from the side hard enough to knock you down...i genuinely DONT understand...like you are a grown adult, unless you are fighting the karate kid any ONE teen should not be able to knock you down with one punch...

That angers me more because its blantant preying on the weak...

I guess you did not see the gent who is a special forces soldier on active duty who was in the car with his two kids, one under the age of two. He stayed in his car because he could not responsibly leave them in the car with the animal-like behavior happening around him. They did not hurt him, just smashed his windows, throwing glass shards all over his young kids. Or the black gent who reported that they came up to his car, looked in, saw that he was black, left him alone and went to the car next to him, pulled the woman out of the car and started beating on her.

No, it wasn't racial at all. Just folks picking on the weak. Frankly, picking on the weak is worse than doing it based on race. We better put armed guards around senior citizen's homes, day cares and hospices if thats what they are looking for.

As for your notion that somehow someone who is either not prepared for, used to or chooses not to engage in violence being somehow deserving of this kind of attack, you need to get a bit of perspective, or better yet, find one of these mobs to hang out with.

A report from a similar event at the Wisconsin state fair. If the attackers are black,white, or whatever, it should be reported as such.

Yes indeed I did miss the part of the special forces in his car with children, but that is very understandble, I too would protect my children before protecting someone on the street.

Also in response to your last paragraph, I think you may have misunderstood my intention. I agree that preying on the weak is disgusting, and by no means am I saying that the individuals who are not prepared for these attack deserve it. No no, i am sickened that it happens to the weak...they are the ones who dont deserve it at all, pick on the people that can fight back, not on the ones that look weak.

I agree that preying on the weak is far worse than racism. Its just ethically wrong. We call grew up with bugs bunny teaching us to never hit someone with glasses
