I like it myself, but as a piece of songwriting it has a giant, fatal flaw.
It lacks an ending. The chord progression goes round in a never-ending circle.
This isn’t the same thing as a fade-out. In a fade-out, part of the recording of a song, often the chorus or ‘breakdown’, is repeated over and
over at decreasing volume until the music becomes inaudible. The song itself, though, can normally be brought to a proper end, and usually is when it
is performed on stage. I’ve heard amateur bands do live fade-outs of songs they cover, but those just sound silly.
‘Little Wing’ is different. It cannot be brought to an end in a musically satisfying way unless you write or improvise an ending for it
yourself.
Anyway, the most beautiful song ever is Jeff Buckley’s version of 'Hallelujah’.
