Just found this on the BBC website, and thought my fellow ATS friends across the pond would be interested..

The figure is impossible to comprehend: easier to focus on the fact that it grows at $40,000 (£25,000) a second. Getting out of Afghanistan will help but actually only at the margins. The problem is much bigger than any one area of expenditure.

Maybe the website that I am to link in this reply could be wrong but we are far from a 40 k$ a second. Nonetheless we are approaching the 14,3
trillion debt ceiling. By the time that I wirte this article the debt still increasing is at 14,288 trillion $.

Right now it's going up so fast I cannot pin down the number but it reads about $14536277..........
The numbers are jumping 5 at a time
