What PC approach? These things just started happening your acting as if this scourge has existed for years and it has been treated with kid gloves. It hasn't its a new problem which requires new solutions. Not the same old hang em high ridicule and mentality.

Hunt them down and arrest them, and they should do serious time for this type of mob activity.

This will be the only possible deterrent and they should decide to make it a serious sentence, either huge fines and jail time or both. Can someone lose their right to use a phone the same way they can lose driving privileges?

The origin of the term "call a spade a spade" has nothing to do with race. It has to do with the difference between a spade ( a pointed tool for breaking up and removing material) and a shovel ( a flat ended tool used to move material).

The term started during construction of the railroads. A worker using a spade was supposed to be paid a little more because of the extra effort required to break up the ground. Some of the supervisors used to just list people who used spades as shovelers, to get out of paying them that bit extra. So when the supervisor filled out the pay sheets, he was told to "call a spade, a spade instead of a shovel".

Actually, the original source was Plutarch in ancient Greece.

The phrase was introduced to English in 1542 in Nicolas Udall's translation of Erasmus.

So this is way, way before it was a derogatory term.
And way way before railroads.

It is just another bad result of PC nonsense. Never claimed this was started by PC, just allowed to flourish as a result of PC.

When you get to the point, where flash muggings occur, where a group of 20 or more black people beat up and rob a single white person, or a white couple, and you try to ignore that this is a racist act, then you have completely disconnected yourself from reality.

I don't understand people saying oh they weren't in need, if they were, why'd they steal watches?

You can steal a sandwich and feed yourself for a day.

OR you can steal a watch - sell it, and feed your self for a week, and maybe, depending on the watch, you might even have a bit left to put towards gas money.

Well, IMO, where Al Sharpton and the like have really failed is that this is actually tremendous energy and effort here - these kids ARE organizing and acting....but it's not being productively channeled.

Can you imagine if someone were to lead these youths to use these very same skills (minus the stealing) for political reasons?

Maybe then you'd see mass demonstrations about 25% unemployment or more among black youth. No opportunities, no jobs, never having squat but seeing what others have - it's all really a shame.

So is stealing - but it's more a shame to me to see all this energy being channeled in such negative ways. In the end, this crap won't help anyone, but if channeled right, it could be ..amazing.

I have some experience with these types. here's what you do...About 10 pittbulls chained up in front of the store would put the scare into those boys, they would think twice about pulling any stunts.

C'mon, it is blatantly black teens committing these crimes. All you have to do is watch the video or look at the pictures. Why bury our head in the sand and pretend it is a racially diverse group of teens, holding hands and singing kumbaya while they rob the stores?

I say every store owner should buy a double barreled shotgun and unload on these vermin. Thats evidently the only thing that will make them understand. In my shop I always keep one handy and would unload on these idiots in a heartbeat !

There is no shame in "calling a spade a spade" as some are saying here. This recent phenomenon is not a group of sports fans unleashing(which is something that happens from time to time at sporting events - sports is to war what porn is to sex). This is most definitely a black youth phenomenon and should be identified and treated as such. It doesn't indict a whole race. It is simply identifying a problem. The Peoria event included black youths screaming "Kill all the White people" and most of the incidents seem to be in the Chicago area, so if makes sensitive PC types more comfortable, perhaps one could say "Chicago area black youths".
