There are those who would argue that without national security there would be no freedom. Anon is seen as a threat to national security. How do you answer to that ?

i dont really get 'anon'.
using the internet to fight the opressors? so your only weapon is the internet? ive read lots of speculation about a 'kill switch' or similar things.
if the hactivists where to become any kind of threat, 'tptb' would just take away your toys, so to speak.

which makes me think these recent high profile hacker groups are more like false flag groups.
youre just providing more excuses for more restrictions.

That kill switch if switched on wouldn't stay on for long. If that happened every hackers hat would be switched to black and there's no way to really cutoff the Internet without loosing all forms of communication. At least not that I know of

i agree, i dont think there could be a realistic killswitch. but these hacker groups are getting an awefull lot of attention lately. but despite theyre claims, they arent really doing much, except opening the door for much stricter internet regulations.

It goes both ways they are getting attention here but honestly anthony's wiener got way more mainstream media time. And hacktivist aren't going to get stricter laws on the Internet.. That would only provoke more hackers.

Lots of ambiguity & possible contradiction. I am both scared & hopeful about anonymous... who they are I don't even think many know who they are.

Anyone can be anonymous.

No one can claim ownership over it. Any collective can be "Anonymous" hijack it, and exploit it.

Anyone can join ATS and claim to be an "insider" ... And simply have another covert agenda, collecting names and info, phishing comes to mind.
