Athiests just need to stop taking everything as a personal shot at what they believe in. Who gives a damn, who or what someone believes in.
Use some common sense. Let people display what they want to display, they do it for a reason other than to piss atheists off. So don't take it personally and we'll all be a lot happier.

I didn't always think like this, but, in my opinion, the word 'God,' doesn't have to necessarily apply to a particular organized religion, but instead refer to the inner humanity, wonder, and sense of adventure in us all.
For this reason, when 'God,' is taken out of the pledge of allegiance, it almost seems like just another attempt to take the mystery and adventure out of life, and reduce it to just the mundane tasks of the daily routine.
That being said, America is a democracy, and majority rules. We take a vote, if the majority want it to stay, then it stays, if they don't it doesn't.
If eventually, one day, the majority of Americans want to take it out, then so be it.

Thomas Jefferson was a deeply religious man, but he wrote:
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.
Case closed.

Soo people who don't believe want UNDER GOD gone?
But believers want UNDER GOD there!?
So...So if a non-believer is a 0 because its nothing and a believer is a 1 because its something and both want something so its a +. Then ends up,
Non-believer + Believer = Believers.
So only believers of God have to right to choose if UNDER GOD should or shouldn't be allowed.
Problem solved...lol...you don't have the right to say because you chose to give up that right...the end.

The question I have I guess is, should God be taken out of the pledge if you do not believe in Him?

No one forces you to recite the pledge of allegiance.
We are the ones who asked for proof and none was provided. I hope the insults make you feel better and in no way intolerant.

Because other people do, and the USA, like it or not, was founded on religious principles.
If you don't like it, move.
Are you saying this is indoctrination or a reality check?
Originally posted by Jobeycool Because a total collpase of something called respect will be gone and not understanding the true nature of why governments exist and have an allegiance. Some people do not live in the real world.
Freedom like the kind America has is very rare to even happen through out hsitory. We take in America for granted badly,we seem to forget how good we have it.
