I believe in God.
Notice Atheist seem to lack the stomach for this argument and I'd like to see it out there so theoretically I don't and would like to see UNDER GOD
taken out of the pledge. This should not be the end of the world.
So why is it?
Again, repeating I do believe in God but I also DO understand that God is not proven ...per se.
God is a conspiracy in that it is a concept embraced by some and eschewed by others.
And either way, God or no God it cannot be proved.
Like other conspiracies ET, ghosts and that HAARP can control the weather, God is a subject for debate.
And rightfully so.
I happen to fall into the sheep category and make no apologies for my religiosity. Call it a quirk.
I ALSO DO think the phrase under God should be left in the pledge and we shouldn't cater to a bunch of politically correct atheists.
"They" (and I mean a majority here on ATS) are already removing crosses from the dessert, bibles and commandments from national monuments, Christmas
trees and nativity scenes in public buildings.
Naturally they will go after the pledge.
Maybe they are right to do so and in this case UNDER GOD SHOULD BE REMOVED. as Hitler-esque as it sounds.
On the flip side I recognize and admit there are a variety of religions and no one or any of them necessarily has it right. I do wonder if buckling to
demands of people with NO RELIGION is honoring "religious freedom"?
I am probably wrong but people cannot have it both ways.
There seems to be some indication or sentiment on the board now that this removing the under God part of the pledge is the beginning of the end for
America and a terrible thing.
People are making it sound like some kind of a step toward socialism or a place where God is moot.
It is only the same intellectual argument we have about God or no God here everyday on ATS.
I know there are very few "religious" people here who even believe in God.
I think there are a great many spiritual beings and people here but God Himself, is sort of a persona non grata...
Just imo and from the jist of the threads started and the things there in the religious forum. It is a little unpopular to believe in God and Jesus
around here. Am I wrong?
The question I have I guess is, should God be taken out of the pledge if you do not believe in Him? Want to hear from those people. I hear from them
often enough otherwise on ATS. I hope I wasn't imagining these illuminated atheists who abound and are great debaters.
Truthfully they are hard to argue.
Some dark moments I am afraid they might be right and I am praying to nobody.
I still do my best though.
I am wondering what kinds of reactions and responses this title will provoke.
