This looks rather impressive and had many passers-by looking in amazement.

Residents in a Chinese city have been stunned after a giant mirage of a 'ghost city' towered across the skyline.

The apparition appeared earlier this month after heavy rainfall and humid conditions along the Xin'an River in Huanshan City in East China.

Tall buildings, mountains and trees appeared to rise up through the ghostly mist that had descended over the river at dusk. There is usually nothing buy sky across the horizon.

Oh, the article only came out today so I didn't imagine it was on ATS one week ago. Only found Google News links to the Daily Mail.

Sorry! Thread to be deleted.

Don't worry, this story has been misinterpreted by the D.M. and other sources.

There is NO mirage.

Just a pretty view likened to "fairyland" caused by the mist from the river.

Daily mail has reduced the story, disabled and deleted comments and given us the usual bad reporting.

Just do a search for china mirage on ATS Search and you get this....

Amazing mirage image appears over Xan'an river in China 17/6/11

BTW, it's just an island covered in fog. Explained on the last page of that thread.
