With the recent forced closure of Al-jazeera I started to see a pattern forming: namely the phasing out of independant reporting.
Can any one remember when the US took baghdad? The tank rolled across the bridge and put a shell in the inter-continental hotel, where the international jounalists were staying.
How many journalists have died by friendly fire in afghanistan and iraq? I seem to remember 2 or 3?
Does the "miami model" ring a bell? Some protests against the NAFTA agreements or something of the sort in miami. Well according to indy reporters there, if you were not "embedded" (in bed with?) with the police you were a legit target for arrest and abuse.
See the pattern forming?
If not one of us, then you're one of them.
