Ah, so an official government press release is just free copy. That makes sense.

Mr Texan, when will you be specific about major cover ups and propaganda?

Here's the deal folks, the MSM is as inept as the feds at conspiracy making. In every major newsroom in this country (Washington, NYC, Atlanta (CNN), maybe Chicago, maybe L.A.) where the decisions are made it's about two things only...
1. getting advertising (and hopefully lowering your demo)
2. Not getting you parent corporation sued (watch 'the insider' and read about the ABC News Food Lion case).
The fact is, every piece of news that you see is based upon the need to keep viewers watching that's why we tip towards news porn of any kind (celebrity, weather, etc etc.) That's why you saw pieces for weeks on Charlie Sheen and the marriage of two members of an aristocratic family based in London.
There's no conspiracy... there's only money... you want to know the true agenda.... for EVERYTHING! Follow the money... that is all.
From a real MSM insider.

It's great to know that there is someone else on ATS that works for the MSM! I am excited about this!
I hope you don't fall into the same hole I did by announcing your profession.

I'm not sure where you work, but you obviously have an understanding of the "demos" that drive ad sales and programming. Surely you understand the difference between Rating,Share, and HUT levels as they relate to demographics. The Neilsen numbers I see every day tell me exactly who is watching, when they are watching, and how old they are. Although there is a tremendous expense for this information (based on Market size), I get those numbers delivered to my inbox each and every morning.

You state that it's all about money, and you are very correct! It is all about money for the owners, whether they are Disney, GE, Comcast, Scripps, or Belo....of course IT IS ABOUT THE MONEY!
I can't think of any business that dosen't exist to make money...maybe you could except a 501c3, but even they are trying to get as much income as they can, without paying taxes I might add.

So... your position within the MSM has led you to believe that everything revolves around ratings and money?
I can totally relate to that! It took me about 3 years to realize that there was more going on than just the profit of our company. Unfortunately it took another 15 years for me to understand that it's not really about money, it's about POWER. The understanding of the "Power" garnered by the MSM is not anywhere close to a "Conspiracy", as I would bet that 99% of ATS users already believe that to be the case.

I didn't come here to argue whether or not the manipulation of advertising, money, or even power was behind all the evils that beseech our society. I came here only to offer the experiences I've had over the last 20+ years, and hope that I can hear what others have to say about their experiences.

Maybe you could help confirm some of the things I've posted so far. I would appreciate the help!

Wow, everyone needs to relax.

This guy was simply introducing himself, and some of you are really being mean for no good reason.

His posts will be received just as anyone else s and each person, based on their belief system, will come to the conclusion that it is, or is not, bull#!

Without sounding too full of myself, I kind of have a knack for smelling BS, and this guy sounds legit!

His job behind the scenes? I am going to say producer (think Al Pacino in The Insider) but, that's just a guess.

BTW to the OP welcome to ATS!

And, if your'e not too sleepy tonight can you finish the Uruguay cliffhanger please.

Welcome! If there is truly a conspiracy on MSM and I believe it fully, the left bias has become so flagrant that they don't even hide it. I have stopped watching most MSM and get my information from talk Radio and Internet. How, in your opinion can we fight them and restore the 4th estate to a functioning group.

You know what is crazy.....the government influences the press and the press influences the government at the same time.

What’s crazy about this? It is exactly the way democracy is supposed to work.

Welcome to ATS, OP. You will soon find that the majority of members here, staff included, are just as gullible as you found the general public to be when you were working in the media. Indeed, you will see us far more easily and frequently gulled because, unlike the ‘mainstream’ media (which will usually feel obliged to print some expert or at least partisan dissenting opinion about a controversial story to give the impression of ‘balance’), here rumour, falsehood and downright stupidity have a field day, and truth rarely ever gets a look in.

You’ve made the best out of the ratings ‘conspiracy’, but you and I both know it isn’t a conspiracy; it’s the way of the world. Money talks, and publishers aren’t usually in business to salve their social consciences. The few that are don’t run successful media empires.

Why is that? You know as well as I do. People want to be lied to. Why do you think most of the what the world tells itself is untrue? Religious maniacs howl that God is compassionate and merciful even as they blow themselves up along with your children. Politicians prate about the will of the people while making corrupt fortunes doing the will of lobbyists and corrupt paymasters. Manufacturers promise that you will stand out from the crowd and be admired by your neighbours if only you will buy and use their product – the same product that countless others buy and use. Even your significant others insists he loves you, but is secretly making plans for an adulterous weekend in Miami with Monica from Media Buying.

And this is the way things always will be, for people cannot bear the truth. If you told them, they would either tear you limb from limb or run screaming over the nearest cliff in a lemming-like mass suicide. Because the truth is scarier than any conspiracy theory: no-one is really running things, the authorities are as clueless and helpless as the general public, everybody has his own agenda, all communications are for the benefit of the sender, you are just as unsatisfactory a waste of space as the human being next to you – and worst of all, you are going to die and for all your faith there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that will not be the final end of you.

This is a site for people who prefer to believe lies more absurd and bizarre than those peddled by the mainstream media. When it comes to their favourite lies they have no critical discernment whatsoever and will swallow absolutely anything, while resolutely shutting their ears to any scintilla of fact that may cause them to see through their self-delusion and destroy their carefully-confabulated fantasy worlds. Here, when someone truthfully claims to be what they are and answers questions truthfully, their threads get chucked in the Hoax bin.

But then, you know this already, because you’re a ‘long-time lurker’. You know what you’re getting into. Welcome to Above Top Secret, where ignorance is not denied but celebrated. Enjoy your stay.

I operated on that assumption for a long time. After a while, I began to feel like the madness is calculated. That's what led me to this site. It's like someone noticing their primal self, despite all the societal noise, and thinking something supernatural is going on. As they find religion, I found ATS. I'd like to believe there is no one in charge. I only have evidence that there are conspiring powers. I have no proof and would love proof that there aren't, and that no one is in charge. That would be a far preferable "truth".

Why did you begin to feel that? Did it have something to do with the media?

Did you feel that there was a disjunct between what you saw and heard in the media, and what the real world of your experience was like? Were real life and the media telling you different things?

I have more questions, but that will do for starters. OP, you probably see where I’m going with this. What do you think? For example, as news turns to infotainment, is real life getting lost somewhere in the slipstream? And could that cause problems for people whose personal interpretation of what they see hasn’t changed to keep up? I’m not necessarily saying that’s what happened to you, gentledissident, though – I want to hear how you see it.

Thanks for asking. These are the main points that started my mind wondering; JFK, dancing Israelis, Dan Rather fired, WTC7, Obama on several things

After joining ATS, I found many clues that strengthen my beliefs. Do you think this is like a preacher reading tarot cards to a downtrodden recruit?

Thank you for the informative thread my fellow Texan.

I was curious, with all of your experiences and knowledge gained from your job - Which are some conspiracies that you whole-heartily believe in? Maybe even some of the more 'controversial' ones? It's nice to get a new perspective on things.

Thanks in advance

Anyone can spread disinfo, they don't have to work for the MSM.

I must admit that I never fully understood the level of distrust that many here feel, but more importantly I never thought that the sensationalism I have witnessed in the MSM could ever be exceeded....I was wrong.

1) Welcome!

2) Ignore the poo flingers. They think they're experts, They don't know squat.

3) You noticed what I noticed. Most don't trust the MSM, unless they post a story that the person agrees with...

3a) There is an unwarranted trust in the "alternative" media. But there is just as much, if not more, BS there.
I've read some stuff that was mind-blowingly stupid, and of course it was presented as fact.

4) No reply needed. You have a full plate already

I look forward to reading your posts.

Wolfenz, Thanks for posting these clips! I was actually going to use the reference to this movie at some point, I'm glad you beat me to it!

I remember watching this movie when I was a tween, and a few times since then. I didn't grow up wanting to work in media, and now I wish I would have chosen a different path. I wonder if this film had a subconscious affect on me then, and now? Something I need to think about.

For the rest of you, it's a good movie, if you can get past the age of the flick (No special effects of transformers firing lasers out their butts or anything like that). I would give it a thumbs up!

Thanks LHP666!

I do have a question for you...what is up with your username? Don't feel obligated to answer that publicly if you don't want to. I was just curios.

I was thinking of using 666 in my username, but with a comedic twist.....for example:
667- Neighbor of the beast or
333- Only half evil

I think that is funny. You may not, and I apologize if I've offended you. I just think it's OK to add levity to this scary and uncertain existence we have.

Cheers!

Welcome, tvtexan. Let me just say that I love your posts in response to people's questions. They are very informative and give an interesting viewpoint that one simply can't' find in today's news source.

And I don't see why one should question your legitimacy, as there hasn't been any reason to. I totally understand why you can't reveal everything about yourself. It's simply not wise or doable. I have a friend who worked for Microsoft, which runs MSN and Bing, so similar to this MSM business, and of course, as part of his contract he simply can't tell those dirty secrets that he came across. He doesn't work for them still, now works with Yahoo, but as a matter of course, he still doesn't feel that he should talk about them. Just like my friend who worked at Apple can't talk a lot about what he learned there. So yeah, totally understandable.

Honestly there are so many questions on this thread, I can't imagine answering them all before I retire.
I have answered many questions, and have given some specific information regarding some of my experiences.

I can't imagine that I will just simply draw this thread out with every piece of information I have, although maybe I should. I guess all the trolls and ignorant a-holes have moved on to other things by now and my postings could continue without all the crap! Wouldn't that be nice!

The thing is that I didn't join ATS to make sensational claims or post some "Wiki-Leaks" type of secret knowledge. I came here as a reasoning person that wished to participate in the ATS community and have intelligent discourse with others regarding current events, conspiracies, and other issues may be of interest. I thought that my experience in the MSM would be a good insight for those here, nothing more and nothing less.

I do have things that I want to share yet I don't want to be stuck in this thread, or typecast as only a MSM guy. That is just my job. I am a human with thoughts and opinions that have nothing to do with the MSM and I'd like to be able to share those as well.

I'll post what I can here, but in all honesty I'm really sick of this thread! I think that I will post new threads, and participate in other threads here. I probably just answered way more than you were asking and I know I have a problem with that. (my ex-wife told me so, but she's a b!tch. I can give lots of proof on that claim!)

Welcome to ATS Xaberz!

So... you mean to tell me that you understand contractual obligations, non-disclosure agreements, and fiduciary responsibilities?

I regret to inform you that many here do not understand what any of that means.
You will now be called into question as a dis-info agent or someone that can't be trusted because they use "fancy" writing.

I'm glad you have an understanding of these things, and I welcome your comments! Wanna grab a beer?

Totally understandable , and you're not here to answer a bunch of questions..you're here to share your thoughts and viewpoints on what interests you. Just go where you want, comment on what you want, and start a thread on any topic you choose. Most of us here understand that you have confidentiality agreements to adhere to, so...just relax, and feel free to roam.

Don't feel like you have to answer all posts, if it isn't something you want to do.
