What a sad day...

Many of us have grown up watching this most famous detective bumble his way to victory...

I love the programme, love the actor and am always glad to see Peter in any film.

His voice and appearance is unmistakeable and will truly be missed.

Luckily, we will still see him regularly on re-runs.

Peter Falk, the American actor most famous for his role as TV's scruffy detective, Columbo, has died at the age of 83. The actor died peacefully at home in Beverly Hills on Thursday night, his family said in a statement. He had been suffering from dementia for a number of years. Peter Falk won four Emmys for his cigar-chomping role as the deceptively bumbling Columbo, and was nominated for Oscars in 1960 and 1961.

RIP Peter.. You will be missed but most definitely not forgotten.

Ummm I could have sworn he died back in like 2001/2002?? Not too long after he did the movie "Made." I must be tripping out!

I know that Columbo was played by 3 or 4 actors over the years, but Peter Falk was the definitive version of that detective.

I never saw Falk in any other acting capacity, but I really enjoyed his performances as Columbo. That role almost appeared to be made for him.
