Actually I disagree. Obama has made so many mistakes lately--didn't we all lose interest after day three of retractions regarding OBL--this is small in comparison. The people most outraged by this should be the actual recipient's family. This is hardly a mistake that affects the United States, Americans, security, or anything else other than being a rather insensitive error.

With the mid west under water, tornado damage in the tens of billions, missions in Libya, the on-going war in Afghanistan, an economy in shambles, a still tanking real estate market, a debt ceiling debate, a stalled GDP, a ballooning national deficit, and an unacceptable unemployment rate, etc., etc., etc., can't we just chalk this up to his speech writer's error and call it a day? I for one think there are many more pressing issues at hand.

Its misspelled, not miss spelled.
Thank you, you are correct.

Sorry to do this, but it is "it's" , not "its".

BTW: A star on your post. Great point about the military.

It's okay, he also thinks there was an Earthquake in Hawaii.

(speaking in an interview about the special provisions of the Stimulus Bill.)

Louisiana, obviously, went through Katrina, and they're still trying to deal with the enormous challenges that were faced because of that. That also — I'm giving you an example of one that I consider important. It also affects Hawaii, which went through an earthquake. So that's not just a Louisiana provision. That is a provision that affects every state that is going through a natural catastrophe.

I seriously worry about this mans state of mental health and whether or not he is of sound mind to run the country.

When you or I "mis-speak" it is called what it is: LYING.

LIES
LIES
LIES

He didn't make an "error" or a "gaffe". He outright LIED. HE is the one who presented the medal, to the poor chump's parents, and then "comforted" them. He doesn't remember because he is an idiot, and does not care one bit. Ergo, he LIED.

LIES
LIES
LIES

He didn't lie.

He just doesn't care enough to remember.

Excuse me? Where in Earth did you get that idea? ALL human beings make mistakes. Obama is not a robot or some infallible being... He's HUMAN and therefore makes mistakes. I don't know where you get the idea that a president is immune from mistakes, but clearly you've been misinformed.

Yeah I'm with the no one is perfect crowd, especially a damn President. At best our Presidents are front men (like MIck Jagger). But if you really think our Presidents should make no mistake, well you've musta missed our last one

Bush's hilarious speech mistake

George Bush Speech Mistakes

George Bush speech bloopers

Obama was elected because he offered Change
and was actually able to speak in front of a crowd.

Again, to clarify, the "President's not suppose to make mistakes" comment was sarcasm. Obviously no one is perfect. The point was to show the blaring contrast of standards to which certain Political celebrities are held to.

And thank you for the Bush videos, always good for a laugh, if nothing else.

George W. Bush, Evil Genius or Blundering Idiot? You decide.

The left wing always get a pass by the left wing media. A double standard is understood as de rigueur. Anyone who is conservative is an "idiot" and anyone who is liberal is an "intellectual".

That is a tired old brush the "Left" has been painting with for decades. It's very useful to ignore those things that contradict your own logic. It is a popular tactic on this site with some the posters.

I personally would give Obama a pass on this, but I would give Bush a pass too.

Many people on this site would disagree. In fact many would go as far as saying he is a cloned individual that was created in order to dominate the world.
or possibly a hologram?

According to the article:

I contacted the White House to see what happened. I'm told the President didn't have prepared remarks.

Which leads me to believe he forgot his teleprompter at home. This is probably a good reason why he always has to use one.

I think he needs a teleprompter to help avoid small mistakes like this one. Plain and simple.

I think you've taken this man out of context.I think what he means is the public and media find something miniscule to pick apart and make an issue of In the media and public expectations of a president is perfection. Which I agree is an unrealistic expectation of a human being.

I agree we all make mistakes, but he has extremely well paid aids and people that do most of his work for him. Most of his information is/should be double/triple checked so avoid faux pas's, especially when commenting about a dead soldier.

that's not a mistake, that's a blatant lie. i know president's don't write their speeches, but at least they should proof read and make sure the information is o.k.

what's troubling is that president obama had no problems saying it, even though he knew it was obviously a lie.

that's what expert liars politicians are. nothing they say in public can 100% be taken as truth, unless it's a truth that benefits their agenda, then they'll let you know to believe it.

I dunno, I think there is a difference in the Obama bashing and the Palin bashing.

Most of the Obama bashing is based on misinformation, misrepresentation and flat out lies (he's a radical! He's a socialist! He wasn't born in the US! He's purposely trying to destroy the economy! He's black!).

While the Palin bashing is based on some really, really, really dumb things that she has said repeatedly. So dumb that it makes you wonder how this person has ever held public office.

I'm not saying there isn't legitimate criticisms of Obama, because there is, but a lot of the bashing I see of Obama is really far out speculation and misrepresentation.

There probably wasn't an out cry because most people didn't really know who he was talking about. Whoever gave him his information must have gotten the names mixed up. On the other hand Sarah Palin is always messing up with common knowledge like the midnight ride of Paul Revere. Then doesn't have the good sense to admit she is wrong and people in her camp are so determnined to cover up her stupidity they try to rewrite history.

Jared Monti was a member of the 10th Mountain Division. Obama was addressing the 10th Mountain Division. They knew who he was talking about. Obama personally presented the Medal of Honor to Monti's parents in 2009, three years after he was KIA. It was a blatant display of his ignorance. Stop making excuses for him.

A blatant display of ignorance? Seriously? It was nothing of the sort -- and you've hit on exactly the reason why no one is reporting this, but the mistakes of Palin and Bush were so widely reported.

Obama gives hundreds of medals, and awards and meets thousands of people. He signs thousands of letters. No one (outside of a biased shill) would expect him to remember the names of every single person he comes into contact with -- yes, even those killed in combat, or those he awards medals to. It's something that no human being could reasonably do. A mistake like this would be expected.

On the other hand, most people would generally (and rightly) expect someone who is potentially running for President to know the basic story of Paul Revere -- not that he was warning the British by ringing bells. A mistake like this is ignorance.

Now, if you want to talk about why Obama claiming he visited 57 states wasn't widely reported, you might have something -- but this post is garbage.

It's not garbage at all. Obama has hardly "handed out hundreds of medals," and I'll bet the number of Medals of Honor he has awarded can be counted on one hand. For him to say that he awarded a MOH to a soldier he had never met is nothing short of idiocy.

Par for the course for this idiot President.

Full Story

Problem is, Jared Monti was killed in action in June of 2006, before Obama was president!! So where’s the public outcry? Where are the throngs of people and politicians and celebrities to heckle the president for is ignorance. I mean, come on folks, Palin gets bashed for her mistakes, and she's a no-body. This guy is your president. He's not suppose to make mistakes.

I suppose it's okay, knowing Obama, he'll just have his people go back and create a new death certificate for this soldier.
