How much radioactive pollution must we spew before we stop playing with nuke reactors?

Famed physicist Michio Kaku says Japanese officials still don't have control of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

So finally they get around informing the lemmings via the mainstream media what many of us knew before.

They should be held accountable for lying. They have admitted that they lied, and they are playing games with people's lives.

There should be dire repercussions for lying to the public when it comes to dangerous disasters.

And if they are telling us full meltthrough now, what is really going on?

We surly can't trust them...that is proven

Did anyone else notice how Kaku describes the magnitude of industrial accidents in terms of dollar costs?

Notice, when asked the question about US radiation he uses the word minimal and not the word minescule which the reporter lady used. I suppose based on numbers at the Fukishima site these would be "minimal" values in comparison but in my opinion he was careful not to use the word minescule.

I don't think we need kaku to explain how bad fukushima is ... common sense is enough to see how bad it is ... damn, I feel depressed again :/

I have to admit, I'm happy to see the news covering something that matters instead of Weiner. However, I can't shake the feeling that bringing the Fukushima story back in to play is merely to distract the masses from something else. After all, the media isn't in the business of reporting the most important stories anymore, they're in the fear porn industry.

The worst thing to me is when another country like Japan lie in a disaster like this and gets away. Maybe they could have investigated the cancerous expsoure of school children.

How can we believe that a disaster like this is contained and will not affect other countries?

We have witnessed a tragic episode at Fukushima, we need a more thorough and critical analysis of the events that tok place there.

unfortunately for us, there will be no way to directly link cancer to fukushima, and they know that.

They will say that people got cancer before the disaster, and continue to do so.

We won't see major biological effects for a while.....by that time we will forget to correlate them to japan

(by "we", i mean sheeple, not us of course)

It's not unique to Japan.

The same thing happened at Three Mile Island in the US and with Chernobyl in the Ukraine. History repeats itself.

People are not told the truth in the early stages of the nuclear accident, partly because they don't want to cause mass panic, partly because they don't know what really happened themselves at first, and partly to cover their own butts and not make themselves look bad. As Kaku said, they try to put a "happy face" on it.

This has happened at all three major nuclear disasters at first, and only eventually did people learn the truth.

Here is the point Arbitrageur. And this is why I have
issues with govs.

Thanks for posting this interview. Some people disparage Kaku because he is neither a nuclear power plant (NPP) operator nor a nuclear engineer (supposedly the most knowledgeable groups on the topic of what actually goes on inside a nuclear power plant). But so far, his predictions have all been right on the money. Time will tell, because this nuclear disaster will go on for a long, long time.

Even if TEPCO covers over the destroyed (3 or 4, depending on how you count it) NPPs, there's still the issue of melt-through to ground water, and no containment barrier around the NPP, how about that.
