This is a warning to anyone who happened to click on the "Montauk Monster" thread yesterday.

There was a Trojan in the posters video on the OP's blogspot page.

If you happened to click on the said video, then double check that your virus protection software is up to date and that the trojan was found.

The file that was found on my pc was

/win32/Vundo.ht

As you can probably guess, this may only affect Winblows users.

FYI my regular anti-virus software didn't pick it up, "Microsoft Security Essentials" did.

If your a Linux or Mac user....please gloat now

To the Mod's ....Please move this thread if you feel it would be more appropriate elsewhere.

Yeah, there have been a couple a day in breaking news past few weeks, that list blogspot as the source, with a fake video to click on. Maybe it should be blacklisted as a source....

I never click on Blogspot, I had one that basically destroyed my laptop a few years ago. Just totally locked it up.

Blogspot should indeed be banned as a source.

And I thought Blogspot was fairly safe
Well, I didn't click on it so I guess I'm safe for now. Why do people make viruses?

Thanks for the notice.

Glad I didn't click the video.

The guy did it twice if I recall.

Both times just spammed 20 posts, then started a thread...then left.

Very nasty,

Usually because there's a massive degree of complexity in writing and programming an effective virus, people with the intelligence, the skills and also a bit of a twisted mind enjoying letting their creation out into the wild and watching the destruction it causes.

Just a shame said individuals don't utilise their talents in a more productive, non-destroying, positive manner...

I did not click on the video either. I noticed Chadwickus had admonished the OP of that thread for spamming and having multiples, so I thought better of it.

Thanks for the heads up for those members that did though.

One thing I recommend, if possible... Keep a full back up of your OS with everything you need installed cleanly on an external hard drive. Keep it disconnected, except when you need to recover. It saves me a lot of time and headaches when I do get infected. It takes me damn near two days to clean install. It hasn't happened since I started surfing with noscript, that addon is a life saver I tell ya.
