Even if it hit the sun, the Sun is massive and extremely hot.. I'm not sure what kind of damage it could do unless the comet were truly massive in size.. kind of like tossing a pebble at a 400lb man?

If this thread is about C/2011 L4 PANSTARRS, then I can state with confidence that it will NOT hit the Sun. According to current calculations, perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) will occur on 2013 March 11.0, at a distance of 0.3031 AU (approximately 45 million kms). Closest approach to Earth will be on 2013 March 5.5, at a distance of 1.094 AU (approximately 164 million kms).

Interestingly, the descending and ascending nodes of the comet's orbit (where the comet dips below and comes up through the plane of the Earth's orbit) are close to the orbits of Jupiter and Mercury respectively. However, both planets will be nowhere near these locations when the comet arrives.

Nope not even close...Google translation. It states in the first paragraph that it will come close to the sun so not sure why you need to clarify what's already been stated.

A better analogy would be, it's like spitting in the Pacific ocean. There will be literally no effect on the sun.
