The United States was not founded in Christianity? I beg to differ.

IF you go to the library reference section and pull out a few of the Annals of America, a history of writings by the founding fathers and more, you will readilly see that the founding fathers WERE MOST DEFINITELY NOT deists. One MAY make an argument about Jefferson's beliefs, but the majority of the signers were MOST DEFINITELY CHRISTIANS. The evidence in their writings is irrefutable.

Here's some homework for you: Find out how many of the signers had Divinity Degrees. You will probably be shocked.

Your topic is also at best, misleading. To claim that the United States was founded "in christianity" is a farce. To say that some members were themsleves "christian" would be more appropriate. America was never a theocracy as you try to make it sound.

Couldn't have put it better myself; The constitute demands that church is separate from states; that means you can practice your believe in your OWN time; you are free to express yourself; and so is a Muslim, so is a Scientologist, so is a Mormon.

Want religion? The constitution states you can have it. Just don't push it onto the rest of us.

The Bill of Rights and the Constitution were derived from John Locke philosophies, the English Bill of Rights and the Magna Carta if I'm not mistaken, not the bible. Christianity was founded in Platoism. The common theme is philosophy, not religion.

Even the atheist are dumb as it can be is this country with history.NO wonder arwe education stinks. When you lie about history this is what you end up with.Moral decline, family delcine, more wars, more violence, more corruption, more economic problems. All the Fore Fathers, every last one of them believed in God and they definetly used the bible to influence laws in this country.Very first act of Congress was passing out bibles.Washington D.C. has Moses and the ten commnadments in the Supreme courts IDIOTS.They should be enough right there.Washington Monument has bible scriptures all up and down the steps. Not allowed to climb up the steps anymore.Again how much dumber to we have to get to ruin commom sense in this country.Camp Jumonville has a Cross that you can see all over South Western Pa.Gee to you think they would have put up a different symbol there if we are not a christian nation.Every country on earth is nothing more than a mirror image of what their beliefs or religion is.Commom Sense.
French and Indian war was fought all through South Western Pa.Fort Necessity National Battlefield is where the FRench and Indian war was fought.Gee more Geoerge Wahsington who was definetly a christian man and was the very first preident of the United States voted in by christian people. This country is down right frightening stupid to argue that this country is not formed by christians.

Oh yes, because public schools are doing so well. We continue to slip in education standards compared to the rest of the world. As you can see through anything goverment run, it fails:
Medicare, medicade, social security, welfare, post office, etc. All programs and divisions failing and will bankrupt. When you go private sector, you incourage competition, and competition only brings out the best.
Public schools-goverment run-big failure. So in conclusion: They want private schools so their children will have a better education. I know weird concept. (sarcastic)

Again I must say this again.Every single country or nation on earth is nothing more than a mirror image of what they start believeing and it will spread into the government body.Does not matter what they say or tell you from history.Whih proves this country was indeed a christian nation.Because the fore fathers believed in christinaity. If we stray away from what our fore fathers believed then we become a mirror image of what we believe again. Why would we want to do that when are Fore Fathers got everything right.People totaly lose common sense when they argue this subject. If you put atheist as presidents and in congress then chances are your an atheist country.Muslims apply,HIndus, communist, socialist, fasist.whatever you have in power.

Jefferson was a Deist who respected Christ's teachings, but rejected His divinity, His miracles, and His resurrection. In a letter to William Short dated April 13, 1820, he wrote:

I am a Materialist.

Among the sayings and discourses imputed to [Jesus] by His biographers, I find many passages of fine imagination, correct morality, and of the most lovely benevolence; and others, again, of so much ignorance, so much absurdity, so much untruth, charlatanism and imposture, as to pronounce it impossible that such contradictions should have proceeded from the same Being. I separate, therefore, the gold from the dross; restore to Him the former, and leave the latter to the stupidity of some, and roguery of others of His disciples. Of this band of dupes and impostors, Paul was the great . . . corruptor of the doctrines of Jesus.

Some were Deists, and not "Religious" per se.

I can imagine Jesus calling atheists or non-believers "lump-heads". Only joking. But that wasn't very Christ-like.

And this thread isn't an argument against Atheism. Secularism and Atheism are not the same. You can still be a Christian and support Secularism over theocracy.

Again, Jefferson insisted there be a wall between state and church; this allows for freedom of religion, it means that religious conmen don't get paid by the state and it means us heathens can be free from theocratic encroachment, or opression.

Deal with it.

Yes - that's what I keep saying.

While it may seem it is Christian principles - - - it is actually philosophy. Not that Christianity doesn't have principles - - but these principles are universal in many beliefs and philosophies - existing before Christianity ever came about.

Treaty of Tripoli by John Adams, one of the founding fathers.

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"

Don't know where you found that. But well done. Though it will be ignored.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong. The Pilgrims came here because they didn't want government interfering with their religion, and the Protestants came here because they didn't want religion interfering with the government. If that was the case, it would seem neither group would have wanted a god concept to be part of the government.
