I would love to see the return of the Buffalo. I have often wondered what if ?

What would this Nation be like if we had not slaughtered millions of these majestic animals.

The Pit River Tribe hopes to establish a small herd of buffalo near Alturas. Alvarez, councilman for the Hewisedawi Band of the Pit River Tribe, said the buffalo would be a good source of nutritional, low-fat meat.

Buffalo meat is much lower in fat.

“Our tribe has a high percentage of diabetes,” he said. “It would be a way to battle the diabetes problem.”

The InterTribal Bison Cooperative, formed in 1990 and made up of 57 tribes, collectively has more than 15,000 bison with herds in different locations, according to the organization’s website.

I hope to see these animals comeback in a big way...

Good.
Im sick and tired of having to pay outrageous amounts to order our bison/buffalo meat from these "hobby" farmers.

I agree, but if I see how the Mustangs are treated nowadays I have little hope.

Every time I see this picture it makes me sick.

Humans should do their own population control instead of killing nature to have some more space to live and grow food.

That is one of the saddest and most disgusting pictures I have ever seen.

Why would any people slaughter on that scale?

Because it was our primary food source.. they did it to starve a people and further genocide and control. Read the history... you can see how the feds promoted the slaughter. They tried to dry the skins to make money on top of starving folks out, but were too stupid to dry the hides correctly, so most of the animals were simply wasted and left to rot.

I will look that up...

I was taught we killed the Buffalo to force the Indians to the Reservations.

I should of known the Government would be trying to make money.

It's hard to get that picture out of my mind....Very Sad.
