First off, this video is slightly old but I couldn't help but to share it with the ATS community as I think this cops attitude towards freedom of speech pretty much sums up the general outlook by most of the "bad apples" in the law enforcement community.

I refuse to bash all police officers because they are not ALL bad as evidenced by the recent officer acting as the main witness against his partner in the case of the fatal shooting of a man and the family dog when officers were called by the victims mother. The officer "witness" is a 14 year veteran and if all officers followed his exceptional lead, police brutality and corruption would quickly go by the wayside.

As to this video, I will warn you, it may leave you scorching mad, yes, they are kids and yes they are skaters, two things adults hate the most lol but at the end of the day they are also American citizens, seeing children being treated in this manner by somebody who is suppose be an authority figure and sworn to protect and serve is not only disappointing, it sadly crosses the line and is terrifyingly shocking.

You be the judge ATS.

A police officer thrown into a complete and total rage over only words is what is so disturbing. So quickly they forget the oath and what they have sworn to protect or even what country it is that they are policing.

On the top of the document that has governed our country and laws since it's inception is a first amendment that guarantees the right to free speech and the right up to and including the use of the word "dude".

Respect is earned, rarely given and to demand it is to rule over, not coexist. Sadly, this now former officer couldn't realize what his badge was meant to represent nor understand the purpose of his job.

Saw this a while back. Really looked like he was on a power trip.
Absolutely no need to be throwing his weight around like that.

Glad to see that he got fired for it anyway...

He actually came on a radio show after his termination and said the video didn't tell the whole story and it didn't show him shaking the kids hand at the end.... He is correct, what it did show however is him assaulting a child for absolutely no reason, threatening that if the kid continued to talk like that he was gonna end up dead and confiscating personal property without case.

Although, it can be considered disrespectful, there is no room in law enforcement for personal feelings nor is there any just cause for an officer of the law to have his ego stroked at the cost of our first amendment rights.

Even if you disagree with the above statement, I think we can agree that in absolute certainty that it wouldn't merit a child being put in a choke hold by an adult 5 times his size.

I agree. A couple of towns over there is this one cop that is a complete and total straight edge *&^%$^*&%&(%.
But, A big one, he is also extremely fair minded and follows the law to the point few other cops would. About a year ago he wrote a ticket to some jerk from Philadelphia that was going way,way too fast through town. Afterwards the guy parked his car and went over to the cruiser yelling about the ticket and complaining the town was a speed trap(the cops are strict about car speed, but on that road Darwin is more of a speed deterrent then the cops actually) and the cop just said " It is between you and the magistrate now".

I guess I just had experience of knowing cops who do the job the way it is supposed to be done that my expectations are higher..

Well technically unless he is wearing a cowboy hat and spurs and works on a ranch he isn't a dude so I can see it from the cops perspective. Was that sentence too long dude?

He could call him a lilly licking, rope sucking screwtard if he wanted, thats within any citizens rights to do. You may not threaten, you may not flee and you must follow reasonable commands but you don't have to "shut up".

The scary thing is how much of this kind of garbage takes place on a regular basis and isn't recorded on video? In the end if the victim of such an assault doesn't have video evidence, it's always the pig vs the citizen in court and the pig usually wins. Glad to see this pig got fired though, hopefully he'll end up working as a security guard at a mall trying to catch more kids skateboarding; if he can even catch them that is as it looks like officer small penis has been hitting the old bear claws one to many times.

And my friend, that is the key, they are working hard to make sure this does not happen anymore. In point of fact, in my home state of Illinois, if I even turned on a voice recorder on my cell phone, much less a video recorder, I would be arrested instantly for wire tapping and charged with a felony, this is a product of the Patriot Act and believe me, coming to a city near you soon enough.

Here in Illinois, there is a camera on EVERY street light, on every cop car and who knows where else. Should we however, even try to tape any interaction with our elected public servants, we are slapped with a felony and whipped into shape in a hurry.

So let me get this straight because this just blows my friggin mind. In Illinois if you take video of your interaction with a police officer/pig you can be charged with a fine or a felony? WOW! Aren't there constitutional laws that supercede any such state law and if so wouldn't the charges have to be dropped?

And the pigs wonder why more and more of the public are begining to hate them.

I learned the hard way, I had an abusive girlfriend a while back and she would like to get drunk, break things, throw things at me and when I got pissed and told her to leave she would threaten to call the police and tell them I hit her.

I got smart and got a pocket video camera and the next time she pulled that crap, I turned it on without her knowing and recorded the whole thing. When she threatened to call the cops, I told her to go ahead and do just that and when they got there, she lied through her teeth about what had happened. I then turned the video camera containing what really happened over to the cops thinking I would be cleared on any and all charges....

Nope, I had violated wiretapping laws in Illinois, I said, "you got to be kidding me?" Nope, not kidding. I went on to do much research on the subject and here in this state you must have the permission of both parties to video tape if your not a traffic light or dash board camera in a cop car.

I have seen it used other ways, I have seen bouncers in nightclubs video people they escort out and not get arrested for wiretapping but one thing I can say for certain, if you try to video or audio record a cop in Illinois, your going to jail for wiretapping.

And yes, our Constitutional rights should far outweigh any state or local law but until a group takes up the cause for the individual citizen and challenges it in court on our behalf there is not much we can do besides take our individual cases in front of a jury.

You must keep in mind since such a case could not be documented with video footage it then of course becomes our word against theres as to what actually happened during the circumstances that landed you in court in the first place and who knows what can happen to you in the mean time with nobody and nothing in the way of corruption.
