Yep, that's what I said. Your arthritis and the severity of it
may be directly linked to your intake of coffee.

I have been doing some research lately into arthritis since it
came into my life about 2 yrs ago. What a coincidence, that
was about the same time I started drinking coffee. I did not
put those 2 together til I was well into my research.

So I decided to put this lil bit of knowledge to the test for
myself to see if it was bull chit or the truth. And to my
utter amazement, they were right

I stopped drinking coffee for 7 days (1 week) and that was
a VERY tough thing to do since I love drinking coffee while
reading ATS. And I started to notice on the 3rd day an ease
of my arthritis pain. By day 5 I could actually move my joints
without actually hurting. By day 7, I didn't even have to use
Aleve or Tylenol to stop the pain. It just went away on it's own.

Let me repeat that: IT WENT AWAY ON IT'S OWN !!!!

The only difference I had changed in my diet was the coffee.

I did not stop drinking soda pop or soft drinks which still had
the caffeine I needed. Doctors have stated that caffeine helps
ease the pain of workouts which may be true, however when
you ingest it as coffee it seems to raise your RF (Rheumatoid
Factor) in your bloodstream.

What is Rheumatoid Factor?

Rheumatoid Factor (RF) is an autoantibody present in the blood of rheumatoid arthritic patients. RF can contribute for the development of Rheumatoid arthritis (RF positive RA). Approximately 1% of the total rheumatoid arthritic population is affected due to RF. RA due to RF can result into permanent disability. In rare cases it can even affect major body organs resulting in life threatening situation.

arthritis.ygoy.com...

Did you read that? This RF can cause you to become permanently
disabled !!!!

Maybe, this is EXACTLY what was causing me problems. I can't
say for sure. But I can say that stopping my coffee drinking helped
me. Whether or not it will work for you, you may be the only one
to decide that on your own.

So therefore I issue a challenge to every ATS user who is suffering
from ANY kind of arthritis. I challenge every one of you to do what
I did, stop drinking coffee for 7 days. You may substitute something
else in it's place but just stop drinking coffee altogether.

Come back in 7 days after stopping and share your success or
failure story on this thread.

From what I have read, it does not matter whether you drink
caffeinated or decaf, it is the coffee itself that aggravates your
RF levels. So it won't make a hill of beans difference if you
just switch to decaf. Stop the coffee altogether.

Like I said, I am 47 yrs old and never up til 2 yrs did I have
arthritis. And that was the exact time I started drinking coffee.
I can't believe I didn't put these 2 together til now.

So take my challenge to stop drinking coffee for 7 days and
see if it helps your arthritis pain go away.

tell me why there is not a warning label
on all coffee which states that using this product
may cause severe arthritis ???

Doesn't it need a warning label by the FDA ???

This is great news. I hardly drink coffee at all and im 26. I shall put my parents to the test to see if they can confirm the ease of pain from their joints. Hope this works.

I guess big pharma doesn't want you to know
this. If you stop drinking coffee and your arthritis
stops, then you WILL NOT buy all those pain
relieving meds on the shelf at the drugstore.

The sale of coffee keeps you hooked on pain meds.

Do the results differ with the location of athritis? I would love to show this to my mother, she drinks a lot of coffee and has severe athritis in her kness.

I´m 27 and I have (painful) Arthrosis for 2-3 years. Noone knows why because it´s quite unusual in such young age but I can tell you that I´m drinking only pure water. No coffee at all.
Maybe that´s the problem. So I´m starting my experiment right now. One coffee per day and will see

I am NOT asking you to start drinking coffee.
If you have diagnosed with a medical condition
other than regular old arthritis, I would suggest
you continue to follow your doctor's instructions.

I was only asking those who were NOT under a
doctor's care for arthritis to stop drinking coffee
to see if their arthritis pain stopped.

DO NOT let my challenge to stop drinking
coffee interfere with a medical professional's
advice or instruction.

I am NOT a doctor.

I do not know about locations of arthritis.
But I think this study was for any kind of arthritis
meaning anywhere.

Can I drink wine instead? .........Hic

Apparently I've got crumbling hips and the pain is on, off. I've tried experiments with different foods etc but will give the coffee free diet a go.

I do not know about the wine.
I just stopped drinking the coffee
and changed nothing else, but of course
I don't drink wine so don't have any
idea if wine is related at all.

boon,

was there any particular brand of coffee ?

i know some have "other" ingredients.

don't know if that makes a difference.

i drink a lot of coffee ... have been for 40 years.

no problems....not even sleep problems.

some people are sensitive to certain things.

i wonder what's "in the coffee" to trigger arthritis.

I know what you said. And I also know that Arthritis and Arthrosis are different diagnoses. So maybe if coffee hurts your arthritis it can help my arthrosis
.
My doctor instructions are just go swimming and ride bike.. and wait for stem cell research

There are good articles on naturalnews.com
about arthritis. Most interesting for me was article about cherries as magical cure for arthritis pain. cherries (Big Pharma involved)

well I am not gonna say their names
but there were 2 different brands that
i was using. I would alter between
the 2. Won't say exact brand names
but they rhymed with:

Haxwell Mouse and
Stolgers

and also like you mentioned, some may not
be affected due to DNA or genes or whatever.
However, I was and thought I'd pass it
along to ATS users.

thanks Z for the info on Cherries.

So maybe a cure between the 2 remedies
is to STOP drinking coffee and eat more
Cherries. I am gonna have to try this out
to see if it cures it altogether. Wonderful
news my friend

I have something more to add. I have connected few dots from what I heard and read and maybe I have explanation for your coffee discovery (maybe not).

First: I was watching tv once and there was a clever woman talking about coffee. She said that people usualy drink coffee because of tiredness but it´s generally bad idea. She said that coffee dehydrates your body and that means more tiredness. If you want to stay awake just drink a lot of water, she said.

Second: As I read articles about arthritis there was usualy mentioned main cause of pain as high levels of uric acid in your joints. Precisely little crystals in uric acid. And high levels of uric acid are caused by dehydration. If you drink a lot you are washing these crystals away from your body.

So here´s my conclusion

coffee = dehydration = more uric acid = more pain.

And my advice is just drink more water instead of coffee. Preferably pure water (tea) without bubbles. Because CO2 in sodas and lemonades has bad influence on calcium deposition in your bones.

Nice OP. I use to drink coffee at all hours. Strong stuff too!, my rule of thumb was it wasn't good unless you could block the sun with it.

Oddly enough, it rarely wired me out. The only time it did was when I had not eaten in quite some time. I could go to sleep right after drinking a quad-shot cafe mocha. Used to freak my co-workers out.

I have recently cut down to two cups in the morning and that's it. No reason behind it, just don't feel like having coffee that much anymore. And now, upon reading this, I have noticed a reduced pain level in the past few months.

But your post has made me think. I have been banged up through life and have experienced daily pain for a bit of years now, but since cutting back, I rarely experience the pain anymore. You may have hit on something here. I'm going to give it a whirl and see what happens. I'll let ya know my results on the 25th.

Is this only effective for RA.. what about other forms of arthritis, like osteo?

I have bad knees and love coffee but would give it up for less pain.

the only thing I can tell ya is to take
the challenge and give it up for
a week and see if it helps you.
that was the reason why I
brought up the challenge
to stop in the OP

let us know how you fare ???
