The Shahab-3 is capable of carrying a one-metric-ton warhead over 800 miles. Tehran announced that the Shahab-3's main target is Israel. Six Shahab-3
missiles were put on display in September during a parade in Tehran celebrating the anniversary of the Iran-Iraq war. One of the missiles carried a
banner declaring "We will wipe Israel off the map."
So, how will they "wipe israel off the map" with their missiles, unless they are making nuclear weapons?
Why are they pursuing uranium enrichment plants? they're very expensive, and reactor-grade uranium is cheap on the world market. If it's only for
energy needs (i.e. economic development), they'd pursue that angle, with commercial-style nuclear plants.
They aren't.
Why are they making an enormous heavy-water planet? There's no legitimate commercial reason. However heavy water (D2O) is used in a different kind
of nuclear reactor which is ideal for breeding plutonium for nuclear weapons.
Why are they pursuing a waste reprocessing center? (i.e. separating nuclear waste from reactors.) Again, very environmentally nasty, and very
expensive. If energy were only for commercial purposes, they'd just store or bury the fuel rods (like in the US) or send them back to Russia for
disposal.
But, on the other hand, if they need the technology to extract the plutonium created from the natural uranium, in order to build nuclear weapons,
that's exactly what you'd do.
Israel has never had Iran as a natural enemy---before Khomeini, Iran and Israel were friendly. Before Khomeini there were quite a number of Jews
living freely in Iran, as they had for literally thousands of years. (And like how once there were over 200,000 Jews living in Baghdad.)
There are no rallies in Israel with banners "We will wipe Iran off the map" or "Death to the Persians" or anything like that.
The West didn't really pay attention to Osama bin Laden when, in 1998, he officially declared total war against the U.S. and the West.
Radical Islamicists are not mysterious. They say what they are going to do, and then do it. It's just so insane to begin with that the West
doesn't seem able to believe it.
The Europeans have sympathy for dead Jews, but live ones, they can't stand.
