The Shihab - 3 missile which is capable of sending a 1000 kilogram warhead 1300 kilometers is being developed by Iran. This would bring Israel into missile range. Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani stated that Iran was not involved in any nuclear activity but that the country wouldn't leave its citizens defenseless.

The foreign minster of Iran has said that the existence of Israel is against Iran's national interest.

and yes, they are developing nuclear weapons. All the speicfic technologies of their nuclear programs point to that and not a commercial program for energy only. The laws of physics and engineering don't lie.

Please give me proof of this. As for the new missles, I don't have a problem with that, every country has a right to defend itself.

Scary. You mean they are developing a nuclear weapons program that will be as massive as the one of Saddam Hussein? The one the US intelligences had so much information about?
Whoppa!

I have no problem with this quote:

Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani stated that Iran was not involved in any nuclear activity but that the country wouldn't leave its citizens defenseless.

But the statement mbkennel mentioned worries me. Quite simply, if Iran in fact believes that the existence of Israel is against their interests could they then theorize that firing missiles at Israel is self defense due to Israel being there?

Sounds like the Defense and Foreign Ministers need to have a quick chat about what qualifies.

Why worry? The Bush Administration applied the same pattern several times, all for the worlds best interest, how can it be wrong?

The general statement that Israel is against Irans interest is correct but nothing to worry about. Since Israel was founded the heat was up between them and Iran, down there, they are the biggest enemies. If anybody wanted to attack, they would have done it - but both aren't stupid and won't suicide.

Iran hasn't attacked Israel because they know what Israel would do, but now they might follow up on their threats to "destroy" Israel.

Why worry asks Shoo? simple....why worry at all about terrorists getting their hands on these kind of weapons?.... The government of Iran is known, around the word, to be pro-terrorist and it has made several threats not only against Israel but to the west in general.

If Iran hates the West so much, why are they seeking support from Europe to have their own Nuclear power plants.

If there existed so much dislike between the two, why would Iran feel they are in the position to ask for support?

It seems you didn't understand the message behind my sarcastic comment!
You didn't saw the clear parallel I draw between Iran playing the tough diplomat and what the USA did? Go, read it again and try to understand.

Furthermore...
the government of Iran is pro-terrorists? Jesus, I am tired of your total senseless comments.
Yes - we have a strong religious and terroristic class that has much influence in Iran.
Yes - we have some supporters of this group in the current Iranian government.
But overall the Iranian government is not supporting religious fanatism and is more westernized than most governments in this area, even than Saudi Arabia's.

www.newsmax.com...

The Shahab-3 is capable of carrying a one-metric-ton warhead over 800 miles. Tehran announced that the Shahab-3's main target is Israel. Six Shahab-3 missiles were put on display in September during a parade in Tehran celebrating the anniversary of the Iran-Iraq war. One of the missiles carried a banner declaring "We will wipe Israel off the map."

So, how will they "wipe israel off the map" with their missiles, unless they are making nuclear weapons?

Why are they pursuing uranium enrichment plants? they're very expensive, and reactor-grade uranium is cheap on the world market. If it's only for energy needs (i.e. economic development), they'd pursue that angle, with commercial-style nuclear plants.

They aren't.

Why are they making an enormous heavy-water planet? There's no legitimate commercial reason. However heavy water (D2O) is used in a different kind of nuclear reactor which is ideal for breeding plutonium for nuclear weapons.

Why are they pursuing a waste reprocessing center? (i.e. separating nuclear waste from reactors.) Again, very environmentally nasty, and very expensive. If energy were only for commercial purposes, they'd just store or bury the fuel rods (like in the US) or send them back to Russia for disposal.

But, on the other hand, if they need the technology to extract the plutonium created from the natural uranium, in order to build nuclear weapons, that's exactly what you'd do.

Israel has never had Iran as a natural enemy---before Khomeini, Iran and Israel were friendly. Before Khomeini there were quite a number of Jews living freely in Iran, as they had for literally thousands of years. (And like how once there were over 200,000 Jews living in Baghdad.)

There are no rallies in Israel with banners "We will wipe Iran off the map" or "Death to the Persians" or anything like that.

The West didn't really pay attention to Osama bin Laden when, in 1998, he officially declared total war against the U.S. and the West.

Radical Islamicists are not mysterious. They say what they are going to do, and then do it. It's just so insane to begin with that the West doesn't seem able to believe it.

The Europeans have sympathy for dead Jews, but live ones, they can't stand.
