The Objective Individual Combat Weapon (OICW) is the lethality element of the Land Warrior program. It is also planned to be fielded as a stand-alone system. The OICW, recently designated as XM29 by the US Army, is a developmental infantry weapon system that will revolutionize the close combat fight by substantially improving the infantry soldier's effectiveness. The XM29's unique, full-solution target acquisition/fire control system combined with precision 20mm air bursting ammunition provide a significant overmatch capability against today's threats, resulting in a dramatic increase in soldier survivability. The XM29 is one of the premier programs within the new Program Manager Soldier Weapons Office in the Program Executive Office Soldier Systems.

I love this gun the XM-29 is going to be one sweet a$$ gun. HK is making the lower carbine part so you know its going to be built really good HK knows how to make a gun. Plus airburst grenades

The ability of this gun to fire air burst grenades is the best thing for urban combat all you have to do is just pop some grenades through the window from 100-300 meters away and it will explode in the air. This gun can also be linked up with the land warrior electronics which would allow the individual solider to look around corners with his gun via camera. Cant wait till they start getting in the field somewhere around 2008.





West Point, Out

its reliability is great if the computer dies it can still be used. some of the capabilitys will be lost but still usable.

If the battery dies the only thing that will be affected is the ability to program your grenade to burst in the air. But it will still explode on contact so it swill still be affective even without a battery.
