In today's world you know what this means? . . . . . . .

For the couple: Playgirl and Playboy spreads, talk show circuit, reality TV show, book deal, endorsements for perfume, lipstick, and viagra. Later, a horrendous and public break-up, scandal, and criminal charges for at least one of them

For the photog: Journalism awards and big money for pic. New lucrative contract, complete with clauses for public appearances to promote any publication. New assignments to every finale, soccer game, high-profile trial, and potential riot scenario. And then eventually the realization that it was a lucky shot, and he will resign himself to being a superstar has-been at a local TV station.

Your cinicism is showing.

I say the lad goes on to be a great comedian for two reasons... an already great sense of humour which requires natural sensitivity to pain and suffering and the instant fame this photo wins him.

The wife chimed in....

This is why I tell the kids to always wear underwear.

Case in point.

Well whatever, it is a great picture of a tender moment amist chaos.

And then some.

I like that picture...

Being a Canadian, I can very much assure you that being that young, they definitely had a lot of Beer pumping through the veins at that moment.

I know I did, as did every other Canadian who went out for the Stanley Cup Final

Definitely brings back memories of similar experiences

Pre-planned. Who would bring molotov cocktails downtown? Stupid, maybe, or looters had a plan. They sure weren't hockey fans imho.

Yeah, I didn't think Canadians knew how to riot.

Biggest scuffle I remember of were those guys demonstrating against the G-8, and those were mostly all foreigners.

They rioted in Boston too, and they won!!

It isn't about being a sore loser, it is all about rage and adrenalin and frustration and reaching catharsis with no healthy outlet.

This is the kinda photo that I'd like to have blown-up and hung in my living room.

This photo REALLY speaks!

In my opinion, which I think will get borne out as the investigation gets underway, is that the people that got things rolling with burning cars and breaking windows were out to do some looting. They saw that 100,000 people were massing downtown and they got their hoodies, bandanas and backpacks loaded up for some quick thievery when the fun got started.

It wouldn't matter a bit to these folk which team won.

Best news of all was the hundreds of pics being uploaded onto the popular social media. Heck, some even posted pics of themselves posing on top of overturned cars and I heard one young lady showing a cameraman the purse she stole (big smile and all). She was on the evening news last night. Now that took REAL brains, right?

Thanks to camera phones and rioters acting out, the cops are going to have an easy go rounding up the known troublemakers.

It is being reported that he was comforting her after she was hit by a riot shield.

However, these folks are far from innocent. All the relevant warnings had been given long before this to clear the area. If they were close enough to the police that she got hit by a riot shield, they are hardly angels.

The guy is Australian, apparently. Send him back.,

You like the picture, that is taking part during a riot?

True Canadians are absolutely disgusted at what went on in Vancouver.

All people in the riot zone (and it WAS a declared riot zone) should be charged. These two idiots should be first on the list.

There were 100,000 people in the downtown area watching the game on giant screens. There's NO WAY all those people were rioters.

Think there is an outside chance these two were in the wrong place at the time?

This wasn't a riot. I saw the whole thing unfold live on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Channel) right after the Canucks lost in game 7.

There were a couple cars burned and later a couple police cars were torched but there were over 100,000 people in downtown Vancouver and a lot of them were drunk.

In my view the police did use excessive force at times, whacking people with their batons and firing tear gas directly into people's backs.

Haha Fair play.

Seems like the same sort of thing me and my girl used to do, back when we were activists. But shes preggers now and I've got something far more important to worry about than politics.

this is who the couple are:

Scott Jones says he was just trying calm his girlfriend down after they both had been hit by Vancouver police when the now-famous photos of them lying in the street and kissing was taken in the midst of Wednesday night’s riot. “They started beating us with the shields, like trying to get us to move,” Jones told CBC News in an exclusive television interview Friday.

There's your answer.
