This thread is intended for (but not limited to) those of us who feel that whatever invisible hand that guides our economy, media, and entertainment industry also has a hand in the music industry. Lauryn hill is a profound secular artist who always finds a way to insert a lot of truth into the lyrics of her songs. Some even theorize (without any damning evidence) that her outspokenness is what caused her to have trouble with her record label and eventually her health. In this thread I will provide some videos and lyrics of Lauren that really speak to me on deep levels. She has a level of conviction and a deeper sense of morality that quite honestly brings tears to my eyes whenever I listen to her songs, and since a lot of people don't really seem to know about her I feel that I should give credit where credit is due. I also would like to say that i was unsure on which forum to put this in since I didn't exactly intend for this thread to be considered "off topic" "entertainment" or simply "music." This thread does pertain to conspiracies.

Here's a song called "adam lives in theory" in which she speaks on the arrogance and hubris of man, and how our ancestors and future generations are affected by the mistakes of the past. We all need to drop our pride and attempt to gain true understanding of the world around us and just what this life means (if it means anything). Also take note of what she says at the beginning of the video, it's important to understanding her mindset.
youtu.be...

and for those of you that dont wanna sit through the video:

Adam lives in theory
Trying to turn stone into bread
Masquerading like he got it figured out
Cut off from the sunshine, only smart in his own head
Leaving his descendants to hope and doubt
Left to his devices, those worthless sacrifices
Praying to the alter of himself
Making pilgrimages, thinking he`s religious
Like he`s got all the light, and no one else

He takes the unsuspected
Cuz he knows they`re not connected
And he shows them how to be just as he is
Virtually real, and commercially appeal
To the lust of all the people where he lives

Eve was so naive, blinded by the pride and greed
Wanting to be intellectual
Drifting from the way she got turned down one day
And now she thinks that she`s bisexual

Caught up in emotion
Burning up in her devotion
To the king of exploitaion in the field
She handed him her virtue
Cuz he told her "I won`t hurt you"
So she lay with him to see how good it feels

Now can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now
Now can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

Now after the sensation, and the empty fornication
She brought infection home into her bed, quickly multiplying
Now the 3 of them are dieing by the poison she perceived to be good
head
Now Eve and her husband, perverted in their judgment
Cuz everything appears to be the same
They entertain suggestions,
Next time just use protection
Desiring to cover up their shame

But much to their demise, poor decision closed their eyes
To the very antidote to their dilemma
Burning in their lust,
Both of them, adulterous
Destroying the original agenda
Praying to the sky, in order to maintain a lie
They exhausted every possible conclusion,
They can`t even entertain
the solution in a brain
filled with vain information and pollution

Hiding from the truth,
He provided an excuse
to explain away his desperate situation
When confronted, blamed his wife
Giving birth to carnal life
Refusing to acknowledge what he`d done

Now if we can agree with who created us to be
Who says we`re guilty everyone before his eyes
Making no exceptions, since the day of our conception
Predisposed to hating truth, and loving lies

Then can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now
Then can you tell me, what, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

Stop walking in pride, let the thief be crucified
Un-learn everything you know, and let him teach you
Line upon line, precept upon precept, say goodbye,
To this decaying social system
He wants to know, how far we`re willing to go
If we love him like we say we do,
He will try us

Just you don`t regress,
Or slip into hopelessness
Once he`s satisfied his love,
He won`t deny us,
And then he`ll tell us,

What, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now
And then he`ll tell us,
What, what we gonna do now
Where we gonna go now, what we gonna say now

I'm sure that this song (which is really just a poem) entitled "freedom time" will resonate with a lot of the members on ats. She speaks on the trappings of religion and reminds us that god is inside of us we should always be looking for the man behind the curtain. She also stresses the fact that we've allowed the situation to reach this point, and it's up to each and every one of us to make a change if we want to see things turn around.

youtu.be...

Lyrics

[Singing Chorus]
Everybody knows that they`re guilty
Everybody knows that they`ve lied
Everybody knows that they`re guilty
Resting on their conscience eating their inside
It`s freedom, said it`s freedom time now
It`s freedom, said it`s freedom time now
Time to get free, oh give yourselves up now
It`s freedom, said it`s freedom time

[First and only verse]
Yo, there`s a war in the mind, over territory
For the dominion
Who will dominate the opinion
Skisms and isms, keepin` us in forms of religion
Conformin` our vision
To the world churches decision
Trapped in a section
Submitted to committee election
Moral infection
Epedemic lies and deception
Insurrection
Of the highest possible order
Destortin` our tape recorders
From here and like under water
Beyond the borders
Fond of sin and disorder
Bound by the strategy
It`s systematic deprivaty
Heavy as gravity
Head first in the cavity
Without a bottom
A fate worse than Sodom
What`s got `em
Drunk of the spirits
Truth comes, we can`t hear it
When you`ve been, programmed to fear it
I had a vision
I was fallin` in indescision
Apollin`, callin` religion
Some program on television
How can dominant wisdom
Be recognized in the system
Of Anti-Christ, the majority rules
Intelligent fools
PhD`s in illusion
Masters of mass confusion
Bachelors in past illusion
Now who you choosin`
The head or the tail
The bloodshed of male
Or confidance in the veil
Conferences of Yale
Discussin` doctrines of Baal
Causin` people to fail
Keepin` the third in jail
His word has nailed
Everything to the tree
Severing all of me from all that I used to be
Formless and void
Totally paranoid
Enjoy darkness as the Lord
Keepin` me from the sword
Blocked from mercy
Bitter than cerasee
Hungry and thirsty
For good meat we would eat
And still, dined at the table of deceit
How incomplete
From confrontation to retreat
We prolong the true enemies defeat
Destitute a necessity
Causin` desperation to get the best of me
Punishment `til there was nothing left of me
Realizin` the unescapable death of me
No options in the valley of decision
The only doctrine, supernatural circumcision
Inwardly only water can purge the heart
From words, the fiery darts
Thrown by the workers of the arts
Iniquity, shapen in
There`s no escapin` when
You`re whole philosophy is paper thin
In vanity
The wide road is insanity
Could it be all of humanity?
Picture that
Scripture that
The origin of man`s heart is black
How can we show up for
An invisible war
Preoccupied with a shadow, makin` love with a whore
Achin` in sores Babylon, the great mystery
Mother of human history
System of social sorcery
Our present condition
Needs serious recognition
Where there`s no repentance there can be no remission
And that sentence, more serious than Vietnam
The atom bomb, and Saddam, and Minister Farakkhan
What`s goin` on, what`s the priority to you
by what authority do we do
the majority hasn`t a clue
We majored in curses
Search the chapters, check the verses
Recapture the land
Remove the mark from off of our hands
So we can stand
In agreement with his command
Everything else is damned
Let them with ears understand
Everything else is damned, let them with ears understand

[Singing Chorus]
It`s freedom, said it`s freedom time now
It`s freedom, said it`s freedom time now
It`s freedom, I`ma be who I am
It`s freedom time, said it`s freedom time
Everybody knows that they`ve lied
Everybody knows that they`ve perpetrated inside
Everybody knows that they're guilty, yes
Resting on their conscience eating their insides
Get free, be who you`re suppost to be
Freedom, said it`s freedom time now
Freedom, said it`s freedom time
Freedom, freedom time now

The final and most compelling piece of her work that I want to present is for me the most hard-hitting and the song that stirs up the most emotion in me (and I'm not posting lyrics because they're in the video). Clearly laying out how they play their tricks and keep us in a state of mental slavery through social engineering, mass propaganda campaigns, and the general flood of media designed to keep us distracted from what the hell is going on in the world. "They" keep us all in check through fear, and ensuring that we're all too afraid to break out of the boxes that our minds have been put in. We should all come out of the fantasy.

youtu.be...

I will forever love this woman and the sacrifices that she has made in order to keep her art pure. As we know, there aren't many artists willing to outright oppose the establishment so vehemently. I generally just want to get an impression of how you guys feel about her, and other people willing to speak out so frankly. What's your take on her music? Is she legitimately trying to get out a message, or are these just more songs that we are supposed to bop to and then forget about?

i have been a long time fan of lauryn hills talent regardless of her political views..

wyclef may have been the break out star from the fugees ,but lauryn 's soul resonates much more deeply in my opinion.

for some reason i felt the need to share this song of hers about her pregnancy with her son..... or is it?

either way it always gives me goosepimples and a shiver :

cheers!

It has never actually been proven that she said that. Therefore it's a rumor. It was never verified by MTV, nor is there any footage floating around of this alleged comment, which I'm sure would've found it's way into someone's hands more than a decade later. It's unsubstantiated, so I'm gonna have to give that a "no."

My comments herein are not racist...........................but.........

Lauryn has also been recorded on film sighting racist remarks, and fully stands by a black power movement over white individuals. Don't beleive me research yourself also watch dave chapell's block party.

Okay, I'll bite. What did she say on film? Because I'm searching and I'm not seeing any clips or anything where she said out of her own mouth any racist comment(s). could you provide me with a link so you may illustrate this alleged racism? Because for the most part I'm still looking at the rumor mill.

Once again i say: where's the link to back up your claim? I'm not finding any substantiating evidence that proves Lauryn Hill is a racist. Just because she speaks and raps about uplifting the black community doesn't make her a racist.

i dont need a link besides this rumored comment. she hasnt gone to any length to show that she accepts all people and not just her own. like a said racists bitch is racists no white power no black power no yellow power or brown power. just human power. which is lacking at the moment

while i agree with what i THINK is the underlying message in your post, I believe that your point would be better made if you pro-offered evidence to your claim. And did not use a sweeping derogatory term such as "racist bitch", without anything more substantial then rumor or gossip. saying something is so. does not nescasarilly make it true my friend... we are denying ignorance here are we not?

Respectfully,

~meathead

So what you're saying is that you basically accept this rumored comment as fact, and your opinion of Lauryn Hill really isn't even dependent on whether or not it's true? I see more evidence of you being a racist than she, especially if you're willing to condemn with no evidence other than "oh well she never says that she loves everybody." For shame.
