Scottish brewer BrewDog, which has been criticised in the past for producing the UK’s strongest beer, has launched Britain’s weakest beer, calling it Nanny State. The brewery has admitted that the release of the 1.1% ale was in response to criticism caused by launching its strong beer Tokyo*, which has a staggering 18.2% alcohol content.

They called the beer Nanny State.

I don't know if its just my warped sense of humour but I find that fricking funny. Who's really going to buy that beer? Seriously? Looks to me like a big middle finger up to anti alcohol campaigners and the government.

Hey, it fits. The "nanny state" promises you the sky and the moon plus $5 and you don't have to do anything to earn it. This new beer is a good metaphor for that. All you get for your time and money is piss.

I see what they did there.

Question is who will buy it?

Not many obviously but I think that's the whole point. They knew this beer was going to fail even without a name like 'Nanny state' and the alcohol percentage alone.

BUT.

That makes it even more of middle finger up product.

they did a good job with this because even though it wont probably sell much, the government miss out on whatever ridiculous tax they have on drink.
