Puerto Rico’s Arecibo Observatory will soon be the world’s largest radio telescope no more. After years of planning, China has broken ground on the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), a massive bowl-shaped radio signal collector that will be the world’s most sensitive when it opens for business in 2016.

It does seem like something out of James Bond and Goldeneye as others have stated. Guess its good that someone is still interested in listening to
the stars. Seti is on hold and Puerto Rico’s Arecibo Observatory is about to close, I guess China can foot the bill now. I wonder what they are up
to?

I don't get the " Inside FAST" part of the OP headline. The telescope is interesting but does the OP want us to duck and cover? Get to this thread
fast? If it's the first, take some meds, if it's the second of my guesses, star and flag whore tagging a topic title is a sure way to get fewer stars
and flags.
