Im gonna derail this thread a little.. and Im not overly concerned.. but this is an issue for my SIL... she has confirmed hormonal issues.. confirmed with a thyroid test and yrs of irregularity, etc. They put her on a normal low dose BC pill... and lemme tell you, it was night and day for her ( and everyone around her as well).

There are serious cases of PMS and PMDD... but it irks me that every woman out there with a cramp thinks the world has stopped revolving around them. It kind of takes away from the seriousness of a true hormonal imbalance that effects the person so deeply. In real instances of it.. its life changing and effects relationships. These days with all the hormones in food and phytoestrogens here and there.. its a wonder women have functioning ovaries at all.

That's how I am.. I have alot of symptoms of PMDD, and I've wondered if I may have that.. I've got a low thyroid (on meds for it) and YEARS of irregularity, and infertility (although I managed to have one child thank GOD, after 8 years of trying).. But I still get the mental symptoms on a regular basis.. LOL Lucky I guess

When I said I want to crawl in a hole and stay there, I didn't mean I do that. I still function, I still cook and clean, cause it has to be done!! I have friends tho, that will stay in bed literally the whole time they're on the rag! Drives me nuts!!

Maybe the thread author will learn something from this conversation...we can all take something from the discussion even if it was a troll attempt because of the good and intelligent people contributing here.

Im a woman and I agree the PMS excuse is many times just that, an excuse. However, I really feel sorry for the women in your life.

On a more serious note, honnestly it really does exsist. I remember reading an article many years back in a tabloid magazine, and it went through the mental stages women go through leading up to the big "P" day, and I have to say I couldn't debunk it, its true.

On point which really stood out, was that in the few days before menstruation begins, women feel the need to "treat" themsleves, whether it be chocolate, or a new laptop, and omg did I see myself in that.

Plus at least three retail employees in different shops will tell you the week before my last (insert whatever you feel applicable here), that I was taking no prisoners when I had some items to return.

Although I would say the test of time my symptoms have eased somewhat they are still there, and its arwful when you find yourself crying at something ordinarily you wouldn't bat an eyelid to (this usually occurs in the 24 hours before onset of you know what)

Poor girl. The only reason I could possibly imagine someone staying with you for that long is that she was horribly abused as a child and her self esteem was already destroyed before she met you. My heart goes out to her.


As far as one girl telling you it was B.S. she must be one of the lucky few that don't have symptoms. ALL WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT. And it changes thru out our life time. WHen I was younger I only got the the emotional symptoms. Now that I am older and have had three kids I get sever back pain during that time. It takes ambien and a muscle relaxer to be able to sleep through the pain. I have never gotten the cramps like some women talk about, but I know its real.

1 female told you it was bs, are you sure she wasn't being sarcastic? She may not have it to the same degree as others. I've had 1 male tell me getting hit in the junk was not as bad as they make it seem, it doesn't mean I believe that all men have the same sensitivity in their privates.

I explained to him it is all a myth, passed down from woman to woman, it is a mind thing, it is not true…do not believe it. He even told me that for 4 days she does not even cook, loll, ‘What a loser friend I have’.

...PMS affects different women different ways, I personally haven't pulled the I can't do xyz because of it but I do have friends who have. It wasn't a myth or a lie they were curled up in a ball on the bed crying because they were in pain and the painkillers they took weren't working.
The wife doesn't cook for 4 days, so what? What he can't make himself a meal? He doesn't know how to make a sandwich or take the opportunity to grill something? Granted if she's staying at home all day it takes about 10 min to throw something in the crockpot and have it cook all day but still if he's not 5 years old or younger he can make a few meals for himself...in fact I think most 5 year olds can make pb&j or ham/turkey/coldcut & cheese.

After a couple of more things I said about him and his wife, we are no longer friends

Good for him, if a friend came over upset and all I did was insult them and the ones they loved I wouldn't blame them for ditching me. Sounds like you need to work on your people skills.

I didn't realize women were like pets and slaves that you can control. I'll have to pass this along to my husband so he knows he has to work and be the only income provider so I can stay at home all day.

Legitimate excuse, you can't service yourself every once in a while? Do you drop everything your doing to put out for your girl if you can even get one with that attitude? If you were watching some playoff game or tv show that you enjoy or you were sick and felt bad and she wanted to get it on would you still perform?

I'm not thrilled about the feminine product commercials either, they're really not on too much though. Unless you're watching something like the WE , lifetime or similar channels. I think I'm more annoyed by the flood of really loud male enhancement and helper pill commercials out there and about feminine products though.

So you live with 6 women....are you living at home with your parents? If you don't like it, I'm sure they wouldn't be too upset if you moved out. If they're bleeding all over the place though they should try the Mirena IUD, fantastic little thing that can lessen or even keep you from having a period. Downside is it hurts like a &#*$ when it's inserted and if your health insurance isn't fantastic it can be pricy.
