This is an awesome thread...thank you so much for compiling all this information! What a Gem

ETA
I've never seen any UFO's, strange lights, weather anomalies and what not. I've seen and experienced other freaky events that are more paranormal in nature.

Hopefully, it'll be my turn soon to see a UFO so I may have something to contribute to this thread.

as most UFOs seem to be very high up in the sky you would generally need a set of binoculars or a telescope to see them. Generally to the naked eye they just look like a blinking star, but looking through a good set of lenses it is clear they are not any of the things suggested. I have not seen one up close though

Isn't that an airplane? And it looks like going in a linear direction too.

OK, so whilst holidaying in Biarritz at the end of the first week of September this year, my wife spotted an object streaking across the sky. It was travelling about five times faster than the aircraft also shown in the picture - although with distances hard to know, that's purely perception.

What struck me was not just the apparent speed, but the fact there were no trails at all from the object as it travelled.

Anyone like to give a view on what this could be?

Even before going to Stellarium, which presents a great deal of information but is somewhat technical, anyone can check out Sky View Cafe. Its simple graphic style instantly answers questions like: what is that bright object in the east? What is that bright object in the west?

Another convenient source for satellite tracking data:

spaceweather.com...

And their main page is great for keeping track of aurora and meteor showers:

DJW001> Good ones to add. I like those myself. It would be nice if this thread could be stickied up in the top as to not get lost. I myself also like this for the space forum since there are always questions there also which could quickly be answered with these links.
A nice reference compilation.

I have recent seen 5 stars or some think in a weird formation, they were not moving but it was strange to see them like this. The following is something of what I saw, I wasn't able to get a pic though.
