Prehaps The Mark is money, A world currency, you cant buy anything without it, and for anyone (the beast in this case) money = power.

in rev 13:18 the number 666 (strongs 5516) chi xi stigma broken up (click on link above and then click on the links in the root word category for the extra defintions) "... or the number of his name"

chi 22nd letter of greek, means unmarried
xi 14th letter, means work/workers/business
stigma (transitory 5th-6th letter) means mark, roots trace to abba (aramaic word for father, and vanity)

unmarried (not bride of christ) workers of the father of vanity.

number (strongs 706) meaning fixed, root (strongs 142) meaining to elevate, raise up, lift up, to bear.

beast (strongs 2342 traces to 2339) therion can mean a beast , a savage man, and the root destruction for men.

the number of his name (his autos could mean people, person he/she but in the context of rev 13:11 its talking about the 2nd beast that has two horns like a lamb but speaks as a dragon)

looks as a lamb refers to jesus who was the sacraficial lamb, speaks as a dragon (strongs 1404) (serpent as in gen 3) www.blueletterbible.org... .

the first beast is the one with 10 heads/horns (rev 13:2) that "resembled a leapord, had feet like those of a bear, and a mouth like that of a lion" which seems imo to be a combination of the 3 out of 4 beasts in daniel 7, which get dashed by the 4 beast.

in conclusion the mark of the beast is anyone who believes and carries on the work of the antichrist that appears to be jesus, which is everyone he doesnt kill (see rev 13:15)
