So I just found out about this prank, but some of you may already know about it. Either way, it's a great one.

While a co-worker is not at their desk, get on their computer, use the "Print Screen" button to take a picture of their desktop. "Paste" that image into the "Paint" program and save. Then go back to the desktop and "Hide" all the folder icons. Next, go the "Control Panel" and set the print screen picture as the background image.

The result:
A desktop that looks exactly like it should but clicking on the icon folders does nothing since the folders are hidden and they are really just clicking on a picture.

lol back in the old windows 95 days you had a program that would scramble the whole background wallpaper into a 16 piece sliding puzzle, you couldn't do anything till you solved the puzzle.

That program got labelled a virus so it's nowhere to be found anymore.

Was fun to see the looks on peoples faces too, too bad you can't pull pranks like that as sysadmin nowadays.

The only problem with this one is, if you're like me, THE pc fixer, is that they'll just call you back to explain and fix. Did I get all that in one line? nice. Still a good one for a few though.

Haha... good stuff! I'll be looking for an unattended computer all day now!

Another fun office prank one is to put a little post-it note underneath the mouse (if optical). It's fun to watch people slam the mouse around (best thing to do if something doesn't work... hit it!) and then eventually call the IT guy (our IT guy now knows to check this first! But that usually only happens on April 1st)

This pranks repercussions depend on the size of the office. In a large office it would look like you are wanting to tick off the IT guys. Having to go to this service call might be interesting the first time but would get old rather quickly. There are many things IT can do to make a pranksters computer life miserable from messing with your password to downloading porn to your hard disk, deleting it and scheduling your computer for an audit. I'm sure really ticked off IT guys could even have the logs showing your viewing habits on company time.

HA HA...I love this prank. In fact I used it on a co-worker about a month ago. Man were they getting pissed. Funny thing too is we are IT guys so that's what makes it even better when they reboot & the same problem is happening.

I like rearranging the keys or putting tape over the mouse.

The looks on their faces are hilarious!

One co worker of mine is a Bears fan, and I'm a Packers fan, so on the day of the game (Yep, we were working), I placed Green Bay watermarked paper in his printer.

All, quick and easy.

By the way...WE WON! WooHoo!

This prank is best used against someone you've pranked before, so that hopefully they'll ask you first before going to IT. I know the IT guys here would say they have better stuff to do.

Another one I like, if someone has a laptop and docking station, is to unplug the power supply. The computer will then be running on its own battery power so after a while they'll get the pop up saying their battery is about to die. This one is only funny after the 5th or 6th time you do it.
