From AP - Obama Admits: Sometimes I Think ‘One Term is Enough’

Asked about his family’s reaction to his wanting another term, Obama said: “Michelle and the kids are wonderful in that if I said, `You know, guys, I want to do something different,‘ They’d be fine. They’re not invested in daddy being president or my husband being president.”

He also said “there are days where I say that one term is enough:”

I'm thinking one term of Obama is MORE than enough.

So I'm wondering ... is he preparing for a loss .... 'well .. I didn't want it anyways' ... that kind of thing? Then again - the guy is tired. Heck .. he was tired the first few weeks. Poor lil' guy isn't used to actually having to work. Maybe he wants out. He's got that free paycheck for life ... and can golf free as much as he wants ... so basically he can stop what little work he's doing and get paid and golf ....

He's not exactly fired up to 'work for the people' ... to bring in his version of change ... to roll up his sleeves.

Seriously .. he's come across as tired and lazy since the start. This gaff confirms his attitude.

I'm thinking we'll be stuck with him for another 4 years. The republicans aren't exactly putting anyone up front that has any 'umph'. Romney? blah! Newt? YIKES! Palin? Republican version of Obama ... unqualified. Pawlenty .. who? If the republicans would put up Bobby Jindal or Christi ... then they'd have a shot. But this time around it's going to be voter apathy that gets Obama 4 more years ... and gives Michelle Obama four more years of free Wednesday evening cocktail parties in the East Room of the White House - with all that free champagne and Kobe beef.

Since your heart obviously isn't in it, then how about you announce that you are not running for re-election. Step aside and let someone else from your party run. Let someone who has some energy and desire run. Don't do us any favors by staying in when it is obvious that you really aren't in it all the way.

Well, we can make sure he only gets one term!
Ron Paul 2012, baby!

Ron Paul is unelectable, Jindhal is a whiney little man, and Christie is seen as a Union buster. The only person electable out of the republicans in Romney or possibly Newt but given those 2 options I believe you'll see Obama in another term whether he wants it or not.

Also most Presidents state this somewhere in their first term so it's nothing new.

I'm wondering if Hillary can smell the blood in the water and if she's started circling .... But then again, she might be off to the World Bank and not care about being POTUS anymore. At any rate - Obama, the poor fella', will probably be stuck with having to pretend to work for another four years. The republicans aren't putting anyone forward that has any traction.

Romney and Newt both agree with universal healthcare.
Pawlenty was into cap and trade.
Palin? NAAAH.

I think Hillary needs to step in and seek the nomination if he can't handle it.

I hate to say it but looking at the Republicans so far, I would probably vote for Clinton in 2012 however, if Obama does decide to run then I will vote for the Republican destined to lose.

I believe that Hillary is padding her resume right now and you'll see her in 2016. I imagine it'll be a cakewalk for her to win.

I can't read your source without signing up, but here's another one:

USA Today

We suspect Republicans will have a good time with one of President Obama's comments during the Today show interview that aired this morning.

"I'm sure there are days where I say that one term is enough," Obama told NBC's Ann Curry.
Don't get too excited, Obama critics.

"What keeps me going is a belief that the work that we started in 2009 is not yet complete," Obama quickly added.

My thoughts: There are days I ask myself, "What was I thinking getting FOUR BIG DOGS"? But that doesn't mean I'd change a thing. I wouldn't.

Obama is being honest and saying what he thinks. If I was dealing with a directed, focused effort to interfere or block EVERY single thing I was trying to get done, I'm sure there would be times that thought I was crazy for taking it on in the first place and might welcome the end of the term In fact, I'll bet he's not the only two-term president that has had these thoughts.

And if he loses, I'm sure he will deal with it gracefully and move on with his life. He's no different than anyone else in his position.

Being a 'union buster' doesn't matter. Christi wouldn't get the far left union vote anyways. So putting him forward would gain him the right, and the independents who are tired of big government throwing money away.

Jindal a 'whiney little man'?? I haven't heard that before.
From what I've seen, his state likes him pretty well.

I'm thinking you'll see both Christi and Jindal run for POTUS in 2016.

I agree. If he's that tired of it all then he should step aside and let her do the job. It should have been her getting the nomination back in 2008 anyways. She's got the experience and she's got the know-how. She's also go the unending drive to get things done. I may not agree with everything she wants done, but at least she isn't falling asleep at the wheel.

He's already proclaimed that he's a candidate ...
I'm thinking he won't back out of it. Oh well.

My point wasn't on the actual specifics but rather the image the opposition will use to portray these people as. Christie will be made out to be against the working class man and Jindhals little rants and raves he showed during the flooding will be used to portray him as unstable. I think both of these are good men however but running for potus is it's own beast.

Sometimes I have a feeling that Obama realises the length of leash he's kept on by his masters.

Maybe he's getting tired of running around in circles in the oval office.

There was a great show on the history channel recently about Presidents and it was interesting to see actually just how short of a leash they actually are on.

It is not a job I would want as I do tend to like my freedom. It was fascinating to see when a new President is elected in how quickly they remove any sign of the previous occupant. In a matter of hours everything the old President has is moved out and by the time the new President returns from his inauguration all of his things are in place, even pictures hanging on the wall and their personal toiletries placed in their bathroom.

Really fascinating efficiency.

When the unemployment rate hits 11% he will probably resign and hand it over to Joe Biden.

Socialism doesn't work.

That would make it Hillary -vs- Sarah in 2012.

I agree. I voted for Obama, and I have been less than impressed by him. However, I think the he legitimately wanted to 'fix' Washington and legitimately thought he could get it done.....it's rather startling how far off from his campaign platform his administration has been. He passed the health care bill, sure, but it's not the bill he promised, and it certainly isn't what we needed (complete dismantling of the health insurance industry, strict price controls on hospitals, and a single payer system). He's been 180 degrees from pre-election on a lot of the other big stuff (Gitmo, actual ends to the wars overseas, debt control, etc.).

I don't believe the man is truly that duplicitous.....I think he had an idea of how Washington 'works' and he found out he was dead wrong once he got there. The president doesn't control much of anything, and what the guys behind the scenes say, goes. You'll notice how his entire demeanor changed virtually overnight after inauguration....methinks he got 'told' how it was going to be.

How is that - Hope & Change - workin' for ya?
-----------------
Obama hates the private sector.
It's not working out.
Time to go.
America tried on a socialist suit and it did not fit.
He may not even last through 1 term. - Lets see President Joe Biden. -

I'd take bad democratic leadership over corporatist 'social conservatives' any day of the week.

How's that trickle down workin' for ya? Are you a millionaire yet?

You should also spend some time looking up the definition of 'socialist' if you honestly think Obama is anywhere in the same galaxy as actual socialism.

My post from another thread.

The Op is referring to an excerpt from an interview the President did with Ann Curry for the Today Show (NBC)

Ann: I've been wondering, in the non-stop intensity of being President of The United States, have you ever thought to yourself maybe one term is enough?

President Obama: Well, I'm sure there are days where I say that one term is enough. What keeps me going is a belief that the work that we started in 2009 is not yet complete. We still don't have the kind of energy policy that we need to move this country forward. We still have not restructured our education system to where it's to make sure every kid has a chance at a successful career in the 21st century. And so, I'm constantly thinking about the work that is undone despite the fact of being very proud of what we have gotten accomplished over the last 2 1/2 years.

Ann: So you've still probably had to have a family meeting, did you ask Michelle and the kids about this?

President Obama: Michelle and the kids are wonderful in that if I said, you know what guys, I want to do something different, they'd be fine. They're not invested in daddy being President, or my husband being President, but they do believe in what we're doing. I think Michelle, if she didn't think that what we're doing was worthwhile, in moving the country forward, I think she would be the first one to say, why don't you go do something different that is a little less stressful.

The interview ends with the President saying..."So if the family's still doing well, if Michelle's still putting up with me then I've got enough energy to keep on doing the work I've been doing"

Source

See what a difference context makes?
