A majority of Italians have voted to reject legislation giving immunity from prosecution to Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The preliminary results
of the referendum held on Sunday and Monday suggest that about 90 percent voted against Berlusconi. The turnout of more than 57 percent indicates that
the referendum is valid. James Walston, a political scientist at the American University of Rome, told the Associated Press: "Berlusconi is clearly
out of favor with the majority of Italians for one reason or another." The Italian premier is facing four criminal cases, including a trial on charges
of having paid for sex with an underage teen and then using his influence to cover it up. That trial continues on Tuesday. Berlusconi denies any
