Hezbollah backed government takes power in Lebanon, US moves aircraft carrier in the area

After 5 months without a government and political infighting, after all that's been going on in Syria... Lebanon hastily formed a new government...

And Hezbollah only have 2 ministers. The only downside and quite a big one is that the March 14 coalition (the pro-US Hariri coalition) refuses to take part in the government.

So my guess is that the government won't last long... by election/non functioning/major protests from March 14/war...backed by the US/Israel...

The way it was done, something is brewing... The whole government is basically a ``puppet`` of Iran/Syria/Hezbollah... I'm pretty sure Israel/US/Hariri are pissed about that.

Mikati forms 30-member Lebanon Cabinet

Lebanon appointed Monday a new government headed by Najib Mikati, a presidential decree read by Cabinet Secretary General Suheil Bouji announced.

The decree appointed Mohammad Safadi as finance minister, Adnan Mansour as foreign minister, Fayez Ghosn for defense and Marwan Charbel for the interior. Hezbollah will be represented by two ministers, Mohammad Fneish and Hussein Hajj Hassan.

Now the only question is... how long will it last?

And THIS gets published the same day the government forms... yeah I'm sure it's a coincidence...
U.S. uncovered plot to assassinate Hariri: report

The U.S. uncovered a plot to assassinate caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported Monday.

The plot was planned to take place in Beirut in May 2011, according to U.S. sources quoted in Al-Rai.

Lebanon will probably see some bad things this summer.

New Lebanese Cabinet gives Hezbollah more power

Five months after Hezbollah and its allies brought down the Lebanese government, the prime minister formed a new Cabinet on Monday that gives the Iranian-backed militant group far more power.

Hezbollah has seen a steady rise over the past few decades from a resistance group fighting Israel to Lebanon's most powerful military and political force.

And what have we here?

Not good.

And apparently there was a report yesterday saying that Syria was transferring missiles to Hezbollah in Northern Lebanon...

I think something big is about to hit the fan.

I wonder how long this one will last. The Lebanese Civil War continues, just not on a scale like it was in the ‘80’s.

But there is almost always a Carrier in the Med. Though it is humorously ironic that it’s the USS George H.W. Bush.

And there it is surrounded by landmass on all sides, not all of them friendly and within Anti-Ship missile range. We have them just where we want them.


There is a saying that in war, the only thing in the Navy are Targets and submarines.

I think your right though. This may end badly. The region is going up in flames.

I think war is about to break out.

Lebanon PM: New government to liberate land under occupation of 'Israeli enemy'

Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced Monday a long-delayed new government dominated by allies of Iranian-backed Hezbollah, which is likely to cause alarm among Western powers.

"Let us go to work immediately according to the principles and basis that we have affirmed our commitment to several times, namely ... defending Lebanon's sovereignty and its independence and liberating land that remains under the occupation of the Israeli enemy"

The Lebanese forces are part of the March 14 coalition... and they are armed... just like Hezbollah.

Update : Another minister is getting ready to quit.

People are injured due to firing in Tripoli Lebanon.

Update 2 : Lebanon/Syria border closed.

A war with Israel could unify the people against a common enemy, which would be good for Hezbollah.

On the other hand if things start to get violent in the streets (seems unlikely at this point)- 1) We'll get to see what Hezbollah's really made of (tyrants or saints), 2) There's be no point in starting a war.

Although.. It seems like neither is going to happen.

What happens to Hezbollah if the government in Syria is brought down? Now, that's an interesting question.

US to judge Lebanese government “by its actions”

The United States said Monday it would judge the new Lebanese government "by its actions" following the announcement of a 30-member cabinet dominated by March 8.

Not too agressive.. for now.

Mansour: Lebanese cabinet to decide fate of ‘politicized international resolutions’

Newly-appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour said on Monday that the Lebanese cabinet is the one to decide the fate of implementing international resolutions “if they are politicized or if they threaten national security.”

“Lebanon does not renounce international resolutions, but the cabinet will decide the fate of the ones that are politicized,” Mansour told Al-Manar television.
