This article was posted a few days ago & just caught my attention now, as I've been looking into the whole Spratley Island conflict.

Now there's this:

China's constant search for natural resources to fuel its burgeoning economy has driven Beijing's helmsmen to the far reaches of Africa, South America and the embattled Middle East. But bubbling beneath the South China Sea-just off China's shared coastline with Vietnam-- are vast oil deposits, well-exceeding 80 percent of the entire Saudi kingdoms' reserves, according to Chinese estimates...

If you check out the article & continue reading you'll see the quote made by "Yanzhong Huang, an expert on China's international relations at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)...No surprises there. Also it mentions an attack on a PetroVietnam vessel last month by CHINA.

Really hope things don't escalate to the level of an all-out attack to seize control of the South China Seas (which ISN'T owned by China, IMO)...But this recent attack & the on-going feud doesn't look like things will die down anytime soon...

*EDIT* Just stumbled across another linked article on the situation...Things are getting more heated up.

Vietnam's navy announced it will conduct live-fire drills in the South China Sea next week, as tensions escalate in what some analysts are telling the International Business Times may mark the beginning of another Sino-Vietnamese War.

What's your thoughts on this? Being of Vietnamese descent myself, it's painful to see my country being subjected to war after war.

One thing you should have learnt by now China & co...DON'T MESS WITH VIETNAM!

Possible that the link is too long.
It does that to me sometimes.
