I would like to sincerely propose a new definition of what we refer to as light.

Light- that which reveals.

With that definition, spiritual definitions of light hold true.

The light of truth to reveal what is reality. The light of knowledge to reveal information. The light of love to reveal wisdom. The light of stars to reveal the universe of form.

Are there any other textual spiritual references that would apply to my definition? Are there any contradictions where a spiritual text refers to light but it isn't something that reveals?

Light is a beautiful metaphor for knowledge. Knowledge brings clarity. Something is clear when light shines upon it. When a subject is highlighted it gains in clarity, it can be seen and understood. Knowledge sheds clarity and light upon a subject in question.

Precisely. It is a metaphor.

In reality, light is light and you cannot redefine it as anything but electromagnetic radiation.

In the world of woo, reality and metaphor are often confused. Your awareness of the distinction does you credit.
