Im glad you saved your eyeroll, because it has nothing to do with "everyone under 27 being "wrong."" "Wrong" is not the point, at all. Nor is "everyone" the point, as individuals physically mature at slightly different rates. That sound like a typical adolescent to parent exaggeration of the truth. "You NEVER let me do ANYTHING." Rather than a more reasoned, and technically correct evaluation of what the facts are actually saying.

I wonder if it occurs to you that teenagers behave like this because of the way they are treated.

I have teenagers, one is legally an adult - I have NEVER had this argument with them. In fact I can't recall EVER fighting with them the way I fought with my parents.

Discussion and education are the key. Teaching them consequences, as well as shutting up for 5 minutes and asking them what they think is imperative. I have never had them mad at me for grounding them, I have never been yelled at or disrespected by them. I don't have any problems getting them up in the morning for school, I have never had any problems with their choice of friends. My kids respect me, because I respect them.

I think its a shame that you write me off when I pretty much agreed with everything else you said. But if it makes you feel more comfortable to assume I reason like a teenager... thats your right.

What a disturbing story. Apparently his jail time goes past just pasting photos of his daughter and includes giving her drugs (marijuana and coc aine) and attempting to get her to sexually pose for him in photographs (which started all this and led to his arrest). So apparently it was more than just 'virtual photos.'

I guess the judge is throwing the book at him for the other offenses but is dismissing the virtual angle.

How tragic to have a father like that.

Agreed, but the issue is not the other evidence at hand, it is the pictures that are on ATS trial here.
The pics cannot be a victim.

(Edit)
And as for the mans sentence, if it was a jury of his peers, we know how people jump to judge pedo's.
We also know that little girls have very strong imaginations.

When teenagers are attracted to their peers, that is NOT the same thing as adults being attracted to children.

People's whose interests do not grow with them, have a disorder. Adults attracted to children and young teens are not attracted to a PERSON. They are attracted to the power of authority, and in being so they are dysfunctional.

You say, "Playing her with illegal drugs and asking her to strip to her underwear so he could photograph her".

The playing with is gonna be hard to "prove".
Drugs, if this is the case then a drug test should be performed, amiright?

No..I actually said "PLYING not playing...

Exactly. The lust for youth is about power. To pretend that its pure biology is to avoid the crux.

I 90% agree with all of this
10% of me is asking what she looks like.

Being attracted to the physical body is a little different than emotionally being attracted to like minded people. Really can't imagine any 40 year old who isn't severely stunted emotionally being attracted to a 13 year old.

Sadly, I know plenty of immature 40 year olds....

This guy is wondering what his daughter will be like as a sexually active adult..thats actually what is going on here...its just a bunch of gray, and the only black and white issue so far is the legal status of this...which its not illegal...everything else is moral wordplay and philosophcal spin.

Thats really not that gray to many of us. I dont have children of my own either, but I have never wondered what my sibilings were like sexually. Or my nieces or nephews. Or my parents or grandparents.

And "forever" argued that he hadnt seen the girl for 12 years, and so he really hadnt bonded well, which IS perhaps some defense of the thought popping unbidden into his head. But he KNOWS it is his daughter, and there is no excuse for him taking it further and creating porn using her face. You may not have control over what your mind finds sexually attractive, but is anyone here going to argue you have no control over your actions?

He wasnt just "fantasizing" about her. He took the physical actions of getting her intoxicated so he could get photos of her he intended to use to masturbate to. He moved his "fantasy" into "reality" and harmed the child in doing so.

And for the argument that 10 is pre-pubescent, I suggest you rethink a little. Not everyone enters sexual maturity at the same age physically, and a 13 girl can still look very much like a child. Im not making any comment on how this girl looked, I dont know, but its fallacious to look at the age and assume she was sexually developed at that age. Not all are.

When I was thirteen-fourteen men stopped being able to tell how old I was. Men STILL can't tell how old I am. Particularly men from other cultural backgrounds.

Want to know how men who aren't screwed in the head act when they find out how old you are when they've misjudged? They immediately take about 2 staggering steps backwards. Even if they are from other cultures. The reaction is fast enough that it isn't an "omg the cops are gonna get me" it is fast enough its an instinct.

The ones that don't act that way...they are somewhat predatory from the get go. As a matter of fact, usually when finding out that your age is too young they become MORE interested. Showing off exactly what I'm laying down here - they aren't attracted to the pretty young teen, but that the young teen *IS* young.

Completely agree - I mentioned previously that when I was 12 I purposely tried to look 25 and fooled plenty of people - this is the only reason why I think we can't just be quick to judge based solely on a picture - we don't know what this girl was up to - and if the father was so attracted to small children, why would he paste her head on a fully mature body

I also think a major psychiatric evaluation needs to be done on this man - if he is a pedophile, that should become pretty clear pretty quickly - if he was trying to capitalize on his daughters FACE... its kind of a gray area

and as I mentioned in another thread - before anyone rushes to judgement based solely on the Age - they should look into hypopituitarism - what do you do with adults, who are in consentual relationships with other adults, but one looks like they're 13.....

I'm inclined to think these things have to be judged on a case by case basis

And I also have taken steps back when finding out a love interest is way younger than they looked - luckily at the time we were both underage so even if we had gone and done anything I wouldn't have gotten into trouble - but its extremely disturbing when you're 17 and dating and find out the person you're dating just barely turned 15

I've also been in situations where I found out someone I was conversing with online was underage - luckily it never went beyond conversation and no sex was involved, but in this day and age, thats something to be wary about as well.

I'm sorry, but if you were able to convince people at 13 that you were 25, then your peers were not very smart.

This is why it's perceived that you're defending the guy. You share his same sick mindset.

I am defending fantasys as a concept in general because should even the most disgusting of fantasys become illegal, it will rapidly become a monster and puritanical witch hunting for naughty thoughts and representations.

I see the fantasy as thinking the disgusting thoughts. I see the crime in creating photos that allow him to interact with this fantasy. We have enough evidence to say this will likely progress to more heinous crimes. In fact, there is evidence in this case of just that. He already took the next progressive step. At the least, this should have been classified as Child Endangerment.

as far as incest..well, no, that doesn't float my boat either really (however, I do have a cousin in canada..she is a bit older, but damn she is cute)...still, no..not my overall fantasy.

The attempt at sarcasm was weak and furthers my thinking that you have a sick mind.

I defend fantasy overall and more importantly, I am against thought police.

Again, I believe this goes beyond thought. There was action. He created images of his daughter in lewd poses.

You honestly believe that's what's going through this guys head? I'm concerned that you seem to connect so much with the suspect and seem to also be in tune with what he's thinking.

Im not "writing you off." Im saying, "your reasoning is genuinely like that of an adolescent." I know its polite to overlook and ignore really bad reasoning, but oh well. People dont learn if other people pretend their crappy thinking isnt crappy. They only have the chance to actually become better thinkers if better thinkers point out what they are doing wrong.

Your argument was the sort normally given by the very young. Not someone of 37, unless that person is not very bright. But you dont seem really stupid, you seem to have intelligence, you just dont have good reasoning. Thats a combination normally seen in an adolescent or young adult.

In your case, I meant it literally. Your reasoning in that argument was really poor.

The fact that a court somewhere would try a ten year old as an adult doesnt say anything about the ten year old child, their ability, or their stage of mental development. Nothing at all. It says something about the people trying a ten year old child, and the political climate in which a prosecutor would be willing to do that.

Consider the same logical form in a different way.

People DO murder ten year old children. So clearly ten year old children deserve to be murdered.

What people do to children, says nothing of value about the children. It says much more about the people doing the things to children.

Maybe thats why you and your teenagers get along so well and there is less adult/adolescent conflict. You certainly would not be the only adult I know who reasons like an adolescent. It happens. And even if you are unlikely to naturally outgrow it, you likely could work on your skills and do better.

Someone whose mind and real age are adult, but they've developed differently still have an adult's mind and an adults development. They are peers.

A child who looks older is still a child. They have a child's mind. There is no consent - a child doesn't know what they are getting into and an adult does.

I have no interest in seeing this on a "case-by-case" basis.

The line isn't blurry. There are simply people who want to blur the line for their own purposes.

Lots of young girls who think they are fooling adult males into treating them like adults, actually arent fooling anyone but themselves. The guys have a pretty good idea the girl is very young, but pretending they think she is older is very convenient for them.

As an actual adult, I look at people who ARE 18 and they look like babies. I have never been fooled into thinking someone 12 was anywhere near 18, let alone 25. Even the fact you brag about this really reinforces my opinion that you are either an adolescent lying about being 37, or just an exceptionally underdeveloped adult.

From reading all of the posts on this thread I have come to a surprising conclusion.... having become familiar with a lot of the "regulars" here on ATS, I know who is and is not an atheist. After reading the posts in this thread, the conclusion that I have come to is that atheists and catholic priests actually have something in common... they both have no problem with fantasizing about young children.
