A SEX-starved businessman was so hung up on his ex-girlfriend after she dumped him that he paid $18,000 to recreate her as a life-sized sex doll.
The 50-year-old man put together a collection of photos of his ex and told Italian adult toymaker Diego Bortolin: "I want it just like her but with bigger boobs", Italy's Il Messaggero newspaper said.
Mr Bortolin, who hasn't named the man, creates extremely realistic sex dolls at the factory behind his shop, named "Temptations" in English, in Treviso, Italy.
"She was a smiling blonde girl but he wanted bigger boobs and a curvier backside," Mr Bortolin said. "Our normal dolls are very realistic and everything works just like the real thing.
Mr Bortolin said he usually charges around $US5000 for the dolls, but that this particular project was more expensive "because we had to replicate everything, right down to the shape of her nails and teeth".
The doll weighs 58kg and is about 1.6m tall. Mr Bortolin said the doll is fully flexible and can take on any movement or position a human can.
"She is now the perfect girlfriend as far as I can see," Mr Bortolin said.

Interestingly enough I did a thread on Objectum Sexuality a week ago. ATS Link
The topic of which was human's becoming in love with inanimate objects such as bridges, carnival rides and walls as they would another human being. There was a good amount of debate on this, some thinking this is the next step in human emotional evolution after homosexuality. Others felt the connection was more of a spiritual or paranormal nature and still others just a mental disorder caused by trauma.
Well it seems now more and more people are doing this then we realize.

In popular culture

*The mainstream film Lars and the Real Girl stars a RealDoll as a second main character. There is an extensive scene showing the RealDoll.com website.
*Talk-radio host Howard Stern has given a personal endorsement of the product after an on-air test.
*The doll was featured on HBO's Real Sex show where a couple was filmed having a ménage à trois with one of the mannequins.
*Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil showed off his RealDoll in an April 2005 episode of MTV Cribs.
*Glamour and high fashion photographer Helmut Newton also photographed RealDolls. A sample can be found in his autobiography. Playboy magazine reportedly refused to publish Newton's RealDoll photo shoot, considering it too weird, according to his account.
*In a June 2003 article, San Francisco Chronicle reporter Kenneth Baker described a photograph of the RealDoll "Rebecca" by Bay Area photographer Elena Dorfman as "an image of eerie, Vermeer-like stillness that brings us almost cheek to cheek with a silicone beauty. Freckles of imperfection or wear in her synthetic skin induce an improbable refracted sympathy for her unseen owner." The owner of "Rebecca" and a handful of other RealDolls uses photographs of his dolls to construct visual narratives.
*A RealDoll played the central role in the 2002 French sex farce Monique, featured a RealDoll as Monique, for whom a husband undergoing a mid-life crisis develops an overwhelming passion.[1]
*A film entitled Love Object starring Desmond Harrington was released in 2003 that deals with a lonely man's purchase of a RealDoll that may be more real than he thinks.
*Nick Holt's Guys and Dolls television documentary for North One Television (renamed "Love Me, Love My Doll" for broadcast on BBC America) follows the lives of four men who live with RealDolls.
*In an episode of Nip/Tuck, Sean has sex with a RealDoll made in the image of Kimber Henry.
*An episode of "My Strange Addiction" features a RealDoll owned by a man named Davecat.

Abyss was started 11 years ago by Matt McMullen, who was working for a Halloween company, fashioning various products out of silicone, including masks. One day he sculpted a half-size woman, thought it was kind of artsy, and posted pictures on the Internet.
Soon he was getting e-mails from people wanting him to make the figure into a life-size sex toy. He quoted a price - $5,000 - he thought nobody would pay. But someone did, upfront and in cash. Suddenly he was in the "love doll" business.
Customers these days can order from 10 female body types and 15 faces. They choose the hairstyle, skin tone, eye color, makeup and nail polish.
Options like tan lines and interchangeable faces drive up the cost, and custom work, which requires sculpting new molds, is especially pricey. A custom face: $10,000. A full-body likeness, such as the one of the character Kimber from "nick/tuck," can top $50,000.
The dolls range in height from 4-foot-10 to 5-foot-7 and weigh between 75 and 115 pounds. There's also a male doll, "Charlie," who is 5-foot-8 and weighs 125 pounds. Metal frames with joints underneath the silicone enable the dolls to be moved into various positions.
Each doll takes about 80 hours to finish, Keller said. The most popular model is "Jenny," 5-foot-3, 92 pounds, 32B-24-33, with blond hair, blue or brown eyes, and medium or tanned skin tone.
Abyss averages one order per day and ships about six to eight dolls each week. Most of the dolls are sold in the United States, Keller said, but there are owners on every continent. About 4,000 dolls have been sold since the company started.
MarketCrossing

4,000 Dolls sold already! And this is an old article, I believe from 2007!
What ever your preference is I guess is just that 'your preference'. But I still find it odd that some feel such a deep seeded connection to inanimate objects such as these. It is almost in the same lines as a fetish, but I think it is deeper seeded then that.

And just to point out, men do seem to buy the bulk of these dolls but there are models specifically made for women also, and they are selling!

I would include a link to there website but can't do to the nature of this. Still if you make your way to it and are interested the comments/testimonials section is very weird!

It was a term used by someone, who contacted me directly, to explain why they have this connection to inanimate objects. They feel human emotions are expanding in different ways or becoming broader more sensitive.

But you can go to the other thread and ask the experts, I'm still a novice on this one too!

Well, if that doll looks remotely like his ex-girlfriend, then he can hardly be surprised that she dumped him.

Obviously she was only after the 50-year-old businessman for his money, so after she squeezed enough cash out of him, she probably ran off and decided to hop aboard a young Italian stallion.

All that aside, it seems a bit sad that he'd create a lifelike replica of her ( albeit with some aesthetic improvements in the mammaries department
). Getting fixated about one particular partner is not healthy, and, in this case, is even more unhealthy when a person would actually forsake any attempt at finding someone else in favour of a doll.

It sounds like utter nonsense, much like the progressive view of history.

Anyway, the doll thing seems incredibly creepy and stalkerish. I wonder how his ex-girlfriend is taking the news.

This seems to be yet another symptom of a society lacking in community and proper upbringing in families. I could only imagine someone who has experienced no love or emotional bond with another human being as resorting to this sick isolation and mental disturbance.

I feel so bad for these people. Not judging them but they must feel so empty and alone.

I would hate to come home and make love to a silicone doll or talk to cardboard cutouts of people positioned in my home or claim to be married to an amusement park ride.

It would feel like Tom Hanks chilling out with his Volley Ball, Wilson. I'd feel like the saddest, most isolated person on earth.

I'd rather the rather disturbing (as possibly slightly disturbed?) gentleman in question do this than lock his ex in his basement or stalk her or something, though it totally freaks me out.

The words might be utter nonsense but the feelings people have toward these objects is very real.
I can't understand it any more then I can understand homosexuality. I'm straight.

But there seems to be a movement toward this direction which is not by any means new. A movie called 'Cherry 2000' made in 1987 dealt with this topic directly. 'The Stepford Wives' made in 1975 also is a good example

no more i have a headacke ..lonely..how can you get comfort with an inanimate object??we live in a strange world

these people proberbly do it because of the hurt from previous relationships, and they do not want to experience it again or are scared of it. its like woman becoming scared of all men because of an abusive relationship, they sometimes distrust all men as a result. like people developing a fear of dogs because one dog in the past got agressive with them.

maybe his thinking is along the lines of, "well she will never leave me" sad really that somebody has been made to feel that way and they see this as a solution.

Interesting take on this, with the pedophile connection!

I found a link that has child dolls and babies made in this same fashion.
UBERSite (pretty funny captions under photos)
That is truly weird if some are doing that, which I'm sure there are, it's like a sexual perversion mixed with a sexual fetish.
