Have to agree. Model 1911 is the close quarter weapon I would have to go with also. it's just a weapon that gets the job done and I've always liked and felt comfortable using them.

I fear the Desert Eagle is probably the most misunderstood mass weapon out there.
It is a simple play on technological possibilities, its a leisure piece akin to one of those super strong speed bikes. You take it out on a sunny day, you have a little fun with it, show off a bit (a totally normal human behaviour!) and then return to your "working gun".
The weapon is built for the joy of shooting it and to set an engineering exclamation mark; it was never built to be a practical, not even to say, service issue, firearm. As such, it has its place as long as you dont try to measure it with the requirement of being useful.
