1919 signed letter contains Hitler's first known stance on Jewish 'removal'

religion.blogs.cnn.c om

A signed letter by Adolf Hitler, which contains what is believed to be the earliest written expression of his views on Jews and anti-Semitism, was unveiled at a press conference in New York on Tuesday by the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Rabbi Marvin Hier said the letter, written in 1919, is "one of the most important documents in the entire history of the Third Reich."

I wonder why this letter has been kept secret for a long time. It is a rare piece of history and another glimpse into the mind of Hitler and I hoped they would show the full transcript. But I can't help to wonder about the motivations for releasing this document now. It has been authentified a while ago, why now?
A rabbi is releasing it, perhaps it is a move to bring more sympathy to Israel trying to justify its existence and refusal to compromise with their neighbours?
Or was it held for so long because Hitler pointed out some criticism of the jews that can today fuel more antisemitism?

This is truly an important document, what is fascinating to a casual reader into History, is why was Hitler so Anti semitic, or was he just anti eastern european Jew ?

The historical reasons why the Eastern European /Russian jews were so hated even before Hitler are never explained as if History is too fragile to discuss it outside hushed discussions.

Perhaps the reasons were so obviuos to thos ewho lived at the time that they have to be edited in the present?

Not really much to go on..
Is there another source?
The Wiesenthal Center isn't saying much such as a full translation or who authenticated the letter..

It was authenticated in 1988, according to the Wiesenthal Center.

Hmmmm we should go back to his war days to see the origins of his hatred for Jews. I'm sure some kind of event made him hate them

I guess it's not too surprising. Hitler started writing Mein Kamph just a few years later which was rife with antisemitic rhetoric. I'm sure the seeds had been planted before that. In one of his biographies, I think the root of his hate developed in his college years in Austria.

On an 'mindless trivia' note, his signature is interesting. The way it trails off is a sign of anger and being mentally disturbed. I guess that goes without saying, though.

You may be right , but sometimes it as if History explaining Hitler as a madman is devoid of any intellectual integrity...his family Doctor was Jewish, many of the richest Industrialists in Germany even during the war were Jewish?
Not all Jews were sent to camps? Some lived out the war years in occupied Europe untouched?
I for one do not believe he was mad, he was a warrior who set out to make Germany the Ruler of Europe and beyond, just as Napoleon ( a Jew) set out to do for France.
Iam not a supporter of Hitler but neither do I beleieve the easy answers.
no one man rises to power without support, and many people of varying backgrounds/ Religions backed Hitler even after mein Kampf was published.
Some believe he was encouraged and backed to thwart the scheming murderous Stalin, that it was he who was double crossed by rthe crafty Brits, who were staring down the barrel of a rampant Red revolution in Europe.
Out of the war the Jews got a homeland, Britain lost its superfical empire, and the USA and Russia got the spoils.?
Germany got destroyed .

Indeed some hadn't been called up to the camps yet - it's a small matter of capability.

Also Jews who had served in the german armed forces in WW1 were not exterminated.

Oh - well since Nappy wasn't jewish in any way, shape, or form that pretty much screws up your arguments - shame

Well, as I said in a thread earlier today, people who do what he did are not spiritually well. So I will expand that to saying it also is indicative of not being mentally well.

It's one thing to want to stand up for your country or restore it to its former greatness. It's another thing to go on a complete rampage.

Hitler didn't just kill Jews. Another one of his dreams was to take over Russian and Polish territory, killing anyone deemed necessary. And not to mention other 'undesirables' or those with differing political philosophies that he felt stood in the way of his utopia.

So one can be a patriot without committing such deeds. That is what makes him a madman. Not to mention the testimonies of those in his inner circle that admitted to him exhibiting some rather disturbing behavior. I don't think it's an 'easy explanation.' Just an accurate one.

Even if you take antisemitism out of the equation, the man was sick.

I don't speak German but I noticed what looks to be the German word for anti-Semitic in the picture of the letter on that article. I'm NOT a Nazi, or a Holocaust denier, but I thought this letter itself may be a hoax because I wonder if Hitler would use the word anti-Semitic? Did that term even exist in usage at that time?

Many German Jew's (reportedly up to 150,000) joined the Waffen-SS and served Hitler. One thing that also bothers me is this: Link to info regarding the Holocaust of 1919.

History is written by the victors. I'm sure Hitler killed plenty of Jew's, but I'm sure he's been vilified for political reasons more so then anything else. (Everyone needs a bad guy right?)

That caught my eye, too, and I was wondering why that word would be in a letter from Hitler. But if you read the linked article, it explains that passage and coincides with his thoughts on antisemitism mentioned in Mein Kamph.

Basically, he was warning the reader against antisemitism on an emotional/reactive level:

He warned against anti-Semitism "born of purely emotional ground," which he wrote would only lead to pogroms - referencing the organized mob attacks that targeted Jews in Russia and, later, Germany. Hitler's letter makes clear he had a larger objective in mind. "The final goal must be the removal of Jews," he wrote. "To accomplish these goals, only a government of national power is capable and never a government of national weakness."

It's funny how you all think Hitler was a mad jew killer while blindly believing the "Official WW2 History" version. Which was written by VICTORS.

You all could listen what the other side has to say too. Neutral historians have much to say on this matter. But you will hardly meet them - they usually serve in jails. Different opinions, arguments, sources are not welcome if it doesn't fit to "Official version" in nowadays "democratic" and "freespeech" world.

Yeah, and it's funny how we cry foul when our government does a fraction of what Hitler did. But it's so wrong to call out Hitler for what he was. He was just a good hearted dude following his heart for love of God and country.

Yeah right. lol

We screech when our government invades countries for oil (rightfully so). Hitler invaded for land. We screech when our government cracks down on immigration. Hitler kicked them out/killed them. We screech when medicaid/medicare when benefits get cut. Hitler's regime targeted the disabled for death. We screech because we can't have gay marriage but Hitler's regime tossed gays into camp. We screech because there is a gun control crack down but Hitler confiscated guns. We screech because 'I'll wear what I want!' but Hitler mandated the stop of manufacturing make-up. We screech at the slightest hint of perceived racism but Hitler's party researched master race and endorsed human experiments.

Ad nausem. Let's get real here.

The one thing everyone forgets about the Holocaust was that Jew's weren't the only victims. Over half the victims of the Holocaust's where German and other dissidents, mentally handicapped, gay's(After Hitler was done using them he threw them under the bus), Gypsies and everyone else who didn't fit that Progressive* nations concept of an ideal citizen.

(It is easy to call Nazi Germany a Socialist or Fascist nation, but if you look at it, it is a Progressives wet dream government[aside from targeting Jew's]. Heck Hitler copied American Progresives ideas almost down to a T. He did all the things they wanted and still want to do.)

I find it odd that no one is even questioning the validity of this letter and "blog" site..
Is there another more credible site reporting on this?

Has this letter been independently authenticated, signature included?
Do we have an independent translation of the entire letter?

Just a few lines of an entire letter can quite easily be taken out of context..
We see that happen every day here..

And you knew Hitler personally for what he was? Or just believing what some dude wrote in a history book? You don't think that dude can have his own agenda? No? And you say stuff like you know it for real. Regarding me - I always question what I am told and never make fast conclusions especially on such a difficult matter in every aspect like history. But that's just me.

Don't bother, concerning Hitler and WW2 the ignorance is still very alive and kicking among most mods and members here on ATS. Just be patience, they will find out the hard way not long from now.
